I had a little fall with my bike, well actually it is my wifes 250 GTS and it was a friend but.. Now the handle bars are pointed a bit to the left when you want to go straight. Is this something I need the shop (60 miles away) to fix. I am a bit mechanically enclined but not much of a motor head. I took the headlight cover off but don't see any obvious. Here are some pictures of what I am looking at.

Thanks for your help.

Loosen the hex bolt that is circled in Yellow. Stand in front of your bike and put one foot on either side of your front wheel to hold it tight. Then you (or someone else if you have a helper) can adjust the handle bars untill they are straight with the wheel. Then tighten up hex bolt circled and take if for a short test drive to see if you need further adjustment. You don't need to put the whole headlight assembly back together to test drive it. Just be safe and test it on an empty street.

I had to do it to my bike probably 2 or 3 times before it "felt" right. And since you've got it torn down that far, you're work is mostly done.

Good luck

After my wreck in January, I just braced my leg against the wheel and pulled the handlebars until they were straight. Didn't need to loosen the hex bolt.

If you've already got the headset open, though, might as well go ahead and do it right.

Yup, that'll work too, but maybe tighten the bolt up when you're done anyway because you know you've got a bit of play if you can re-align it with just the pressure against your leg.

Well, it was quite a bit of effort to pull it straight, but you're right nonetheless.

Thanks, I loosened and moved the handle bars. Will take her for a spin tomorrow. I thought that was the correct bolt but it is such a critical part of the bike I did not want to touch anything without some expert opinion.

Cheers

Now,

where do I get new badges (Vespa, GTS250ie) and the plastic chrome that runs along the side from below the headlight to the back. I think I found several places for the "badges", strange name, but not sure what to call the plastic chrome. I don't think I want a complete real chrome set.

Is it easy to pound out the dent by going under the seat?

My local auto body place want $850 to fix the dent and repaint the area below the seat.

I really appreciate your help with the handle bars

Our friends at Motorsport Scooters can help you with the badges. They may or may not be able to get the legshield trim, but Vespa / Piaggio dealers can order it for you if Motorsport Scooters doesn't have it.
