I'd say 5-7, from what I recall. Probably more on the 5 side but since gas can get kinda scarce along big sur, factor on filling up a few times in Santa Cruz, maybe Big Sur, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara....

you'll be running on fumes tho.

I've done that route a few times... good times.

Yeah, there are a couple long stretches in there with only a few stations, and very high priced ones at that. Fortunately, you don't need much.

take a small 5ltr container full of fuel. it helps. it is a backup if you do run out.

Around 10 stops if your a Girl and you have a peanut bladder and have to pee all the time! you may as well fill up at the same time.

Just five if your a Boy and dont mind pissing your pants just a little.

I did have a girl tell me to remove my pet carrier befor putting fuel in my Vespa. I was like dam thats a great idea I hate it when i spill fuel all over the stuff I am carrying...

stop often, take it easy and make a day out it. you'll probably need 9-10 fill ups for the duration

Plus the poodles make too much noise if you spill even a little fuel on them.
They should sound proof those seats or something.

Of course you might want to consider the effect of spilling fuel over your very hot engine

Map Quest thinks it more like Total Est. Distance: 382.30 miles ONE WAY!

Double-check the mileage yourself, just to be sure.

At 70 MPG, which I believe is a stretch at 55 MPH and above, is +- 11 gallons, about 4.5 fill ups. I'd figure your MPG at 60 MPG to be on the safe side. This should work out to six fill ups to include the last one just about when you're getting home. Don't push it, fill up about every 125 miles.
