Picked up my new bike today. I know I said I was going to get a MP3 but this bike is a limited edition and it looks and rides incredible. Oh by the way I still have my Vespa and the guys at the HD dealer love the scoot.

Hmm... does having that Harley really prevent you from getting the MP3? I don't think so, you know? Razz emoticon

The Vespa is in its special Vespa ONLY parking spot. I haven't figured where to put the Harley Davidson yet. The Harley also has no place to put stuff so I still have to use my Vespa for errands and going to and from work.

Ahhh what problems...

Very nice. I hope to one day have something in the garage to keep the GTS company. Something like a BMW 1200GS or a Triumph 900 Scrambler.

NOt sure how to share this dream with Kim though....

You hit the nail on the head. What can I say I am a geek to the bone. Tell me advanced technology I go bonkers. Just consider it a palm pilot the HD way. Besides I always wanted a Porsche anyway so I killed a 2 birds with this stone.

Now comes the fun part.
Harleys are like golf, the clubs are the cheap part.
Oil change $100 more
Pipes $800-$1200 depending on what and if you can
find a deal online. Vance and Hines $400 on line for Road King
got some for a friend. I'll bet V-Rod More.
Some kind of commander thing like a CDI.
Harley guys look for loud and fast. I know your fast but
those pipes aren't loud,in Harley terms.
That is the sports car of Harleys not a pig in the parking lot
and will fly on the road. To ride with the Vespas will be hard,
may not get out of 2nd gear. GTS will keep up better.
Maybe you can train the Harley guys about Vespas
move a few to our side.
Be careful you are walking on the darkside.

You can't make a Harley more Harley than it already is.

Most people fall into the domino catagory of changing out the pipes, carbs, jetting, etc ad infinitum.

Just ride the things as they are. They already are pure Harley Davidson and any change is really taking away from them not adding to them.

All that money on aftermarket performance CRAP just takes the bikes further and further away from the design perameters the engines were designed to run and last longest in.

Don't mean to sound offensive to anyone here but... Its already a Harley. It can't be any more Harley. Why not just let it be in all its Hog-glory and be satisfied.

I don't disagree Roadbum.
A friend of mine sells used Harleys so I hang with
those guys all the time, so I know the mind set.
You are right that bike is perfect.
But Ido believe Harley makes more money in add ons
and clothes than they do bikes.

Just getting on my BV500 and using my legs to push it back wards out of the garage seems like a chore. There's a small lip between the driveway and the garage floor which gives me trouble. It seem like maneuvering something the size of the VROD would be really tough. Of course, I've only had the BV500 for a month and I'm still learning. Any insights?

You're right about the accessories/lifestyle. I think I heard or read somewhere they actually survived the depression on sales from their clothing line not the bikes. Go figure, eh?

Man that is one pretty bike...

I think its better to walk the bike out instead of sitting on it and trying to push while seated. Try standing next to it with both hands on the bars.

For the quarter ending 10/31/06, HD net revenues were $4.3 billion dollars (3 quarters). In Billions, HD motorcycle sales were $3.4, motorcycle parts and accessories were $0.69, HD motor-clothes and general accessories were $0.21.

HD survived the depression with it's military contracts.

I wonder where they post the best profit%.
Bike sales dollars will always be higher.
Price of the bike is alot more than the price
