I took it all apart just to satisfy my curiosity.

Lo and behold--that belt is seated beeeautifully. Just like Bubbajon's pic before he tore it all apart.

I have to wait to road test because it's only 32 in Chicago today.

Starting this job on Saturday
16gm 25x17 Dr Pulley's
Fuzzy Washer [not certain if it is the old or the new [thicker??] I purchased this over two years ago from Fuzzy but don't know which one it actually is that I received. Does it make a tremendous difference?

Wish me luck and I will post my results.

One question [not to beat a dead horse] Bubba John states that it makes no difference which order the Fuzzy and stock washers go on....but further down I thought I saw someone mentioned a specific order.

Does it matter?

nope it doesn't matter because your making them combined for a total thickness of 3mm. to keep them together during install use a bit of old nail polish on 1 side of each and stick them together. before putting on them on the shaft.

This is my second time doing a belt change but I am stuck. I removed the plastic CVT cover. Removed the 4x 10mm and 7x 8mm....removed the 21mm nut and washers...and I can't get the metal CVT cover off! I've checked I have the 10mm and 8mm bolts and 21mm nut...everything's off. I went through it 5 times.

Any guidance is appreciated!

Update:

It looks like the shaft is seized to the bearing on the metal CVT cover. I've found this video and as the cover is removed, you can see that inside the reddish bushing is the metal bearing. You can see it at 4:43 ish...

Well...mine is stuck, and when I spin the wheel, the metal bearing spins with the shaft, as if it's stuck. I'm wondering if that is the case. I've yanked on it hard enough to slide the scoot on the stand...so I don't think it's a matter of not yanking on it hard enough.

Update 2: Found this thread...gonna put some penetrating oil on it and try tmr from other side.

Need help removing transmission cover

Update 3:

Success! After reading the above thread and taking the advise from others, I added some penetrating oil, and using a rubber mallet I tapped on the shaft while yanking on the cover, mostly from the right side. This took around 5 min and I did work it in and out a bit and voila, it popped off! =) Onwards to new clutch!

Good job!

BTW - they did a test a couple years back on compounds to free frozen/corroded nuts, bolts, whatever.
They found that a simple 50/50 solution of Acetone and ATF tranny fluid works the best. I keep a jar mixed up now for use when I get a stubborn fastener.

Gonna do this as well but,
I am going to attempt to change the belt and rollers as well, but going oem all the way. I have to thank you, Bubba for this how-to pictorial... was reading it and learned a ton from it. THANKS!

Also, someone else sent me a link on youtube, but on a 400cc, but similar process, easy to follow with video. Thank you too!

Thank you and thank you again for this thread! I was not able to get the 21mm nut off with a breaker bar, but holding on the brakes and a couple of blasts with the torque gun did the trick.

This time around it took me a lot longer. Getting stuck on the metal cover was frustrating but finding out the answer and solving it was rewarding. Sanding the clutch bell was touch work by hand...I wanted to use a wire wheel on it but eh...I could use the zen. =)

Using a kneeboard smaller than ideal kneeboard to change the clutch was scary. I could've taken myself and the TV out. Reassembly also took long than expected as I was having a tough time reseating the belt properly.

Then I left the parking brake on and thought I fubared everything...lol.

Rode to work on the highway and everything is good. Throttle response seems improved and power delivery seems smoother as well.
