Roll Up As Needed Saddle Bags

I have the sense that some of the people who expressed interest initially may not have followed subsequent developments, so I have opened this new thread.

Here's the deal. My shop (and their distributor) have no idea if these saddle bags are for sale anywhere online. So as a public service I am going down this week to buy as many bags as needed and I will ship them to any MV member who wants one.

The details:

Each saddlebag costs the equiv. of $20 (US) plus $10 shipping (give or take... I'll worry about that, as is explained at the end of this post). So the total for each saddle bag shipped will be $30.

Anyone who wants one should Paypal me (my MV screen name @ gmail.com) the payment ($30 x however many bags you want to order), and PM me your full name and mailing address.

I will ship anywhere in the US, UK or western Europe for the price indicated. Anywhere else please PM me your mailing address and I'll check the shipping costs (it might still be the same... but it might not).

All orders should be in by midnight GMT this Wednesday so I can purchase the necessary quanitity on Thursday and post them all on Friday morning.

[Full disclosure: Since I am rounding off the shipping cost for everyone to $10, if it costs more I will make up the difference. If it ends up costing less, any funds left over once all bags have shipped will be donated to Scooter Relief.]

Make sure that yet get Silver Streak to get a couple of sets.
He is going to need somewhere on his new Fiat to put Groceries.

Okay, we're up to 10 orders so far. Just a reminder that if you've sent me a PM expressing interest and haven't done the paypal thing... please do.

Deadline for orders is midnight GMT wednesday night. this will let me go pick them up and get them in the mail before the weekend.

Thank you for putting yourself out and organizing these saddlebags for shipping. I would be interested in a set also.

I tried to send a pm, but it didn't seem to work, probably my inexperience with this forum and tech stuff in general. I don't know.
I also don't have Paypal at this time. When I went to arrange that, Paypal wanted to know to which country I wished to send money. Israel was not on the list of eligible countries. That left me mystified and frustrated.

Since there are clearly a few things for me to work out here, is there any chance you might consider doing this again in the future?

First of all my PayPal account is registered in the us, so that shouldn't be an issue. But in the coming weeks I'll probably ask again if anyone wants to order a saddle bag because there were a few latecomers and I had to draw the line somewhere.

It's all good.

24 saddlebags, most in a set of saddlebags and the rest in my top case under and on my seat. I have to go back in the morning because they only ordered 25 and I now have paid orders for 30.

while I was at the shop I ran into another American expat on his black GTS250. I introduced him to MV and recommended the saddlebags. Thats why I left with 24 instead of 25.

Now to address the packages. Thank G-d I kept a spreadsheet. I had a feeling this might get out of hand.

Okay, so I got roughly half of the saddlebags in the post today. I live in a little town and the one window post office had a line out the door by the time I'd handed over 15 packages.

Since I have to finish packaging and addresing the last few bags which I picked up this morning, I decided to come back to the post office on Sunday to send the rest.

I will be sending tracking numbers to everyone who ordered via PM on Sunday.

I did not order one, but I want to thank you anyway, Trepp, for your giving nature in doing this for everyone.

yes Trepp, I think you should get an extra target or something. Quite the "going way beyond the Call of Duty" for being part of this community. If nothing else, the great Karma will pat you on the back-maybe when you least expect it. I'm directing all the positive energy I can muster your way.

While I appreciate the thanks, this is the kind of thing people in a community do for one another. MV is a community in every sense of the word. I've had MV friends from the UK and US buy/send me stuff I needed for my scoot and I am more than happy to have an opportunity to return the favor and pay it forward.

Big sigh! I dropped off the last of the boxes at the post office this morning!

We have a holiday starting this evening (Sukkot), so I doubt anyone in the postal system will do anything meaningful with the packages until Tuesday, but at least they're out of my hands.

As I said, I will pm each of the people who bought one with a tracking number. That too has limited value since it only tracks up to the destination post office. But it's better than nothing.

I know to a lot of you my offer seemed somewhere between generous and nuts. But it gave me a nice feeling to be able to do a good turn, so thank you all for the opportunity.

May we all create many opportunities to help one another.
