So as many of you may recall, about a month ago I got mushed by a car. That kinda sucked, and my NT is still in the shop (and may be totaled out), and my shoulder is still messe up.

But yesterday I happened to acquire some garage sale therapy - a new project bike!

Behold, Barbara, my new CB125.

I love small displacement bikes, and this fits the bill. A 4-stroke single, it's peppy and fast but only for its size. It feels nimble and has a good sense of stability.

And of course I broke it yesterday and now it doesn't start

But! Ain't she a beaut?

there are two potential culprits:
1) flooded/wet plug - the tap might have been open too long before someone started it, but the problem is we couldn't pull the plug since we didn't have a properly sized plug socket. if this is the case hopefully the bike will start right up today after letting it sit a day.

2) kill switch electronics - we were playing with the kill at one point and it seems to have gone weird on us.

My cycle club had one of those for motor pacing.

Sweet little bike.

Got stolen out of a garage.

Sad face.

Battery seems to be ok based off of the charger, but it's a teeeeeeensy 6 volt, who knows how long it was on there.

It's on my mind, but I"m not sure the thing needs a battery to start. it is after all a kick start with no electric start. it has enough juice to run the headlamp and the neutral gear light though.

Need to download the workshop manual and read through it.

Thank you.

Last thing i need is another project. Between the moped that needs a complete restoration, the P125 that needs a full rebuild, and this thing..........

that said, hooray, new bike!

I see you have an NT. I test rode that and the NC last week. What do you think of yours?

I love(d) the crap out of mine. It was my workhorse, my mini-van, my embarrasser of sport bikes on my local mountains. It's just the right displacement - 680cc and the tuning is good in the right places.

Then some asshole in a BMW 550i decided that he'd try to occupy the same physical space as me and busted it. So now it's not so much a great bike as it's a bunch of random parts in a shop. We'll see how that works.

But it's honestly a good bike. I love low displacement and middle weight bikes, though, because I really don't have any illusions about needing 140hp in 1000cc and I couldn't possibly use all of that in any real world context anyway.

The only real problem with the NT is that it's heavy as hell.

I agree. The mid size fit the bill. The NT and C seemed just a little tall for me, I'm 5'11" and I would like to add just an inch or two to the riser and pull back. But the power and ride was damn fine.

LOL Laughing emoticon Laughing emoticon must be my 25 inch inseam!

They did seem tall - but I'm used to more of a cruiser posture where I can plop my heels down. Maybe their suspensions were set on the high side?

Yeah I dunno, mine's set maybe one click above bottom, mostly cos again I'm a shrimp.

I normally have no problem on the bike. I think my inseam is like, 26" or something dumb like that. I think my pants would be like, capris on most people. Razz emoticon

The guy that did some drywall work for me last month has one. He's got a growing family, and seems the sort to part with unused toys, so he's got my name and number if he does!

Actually, probably not.

I tore off half of his fender, destroyed his lights, that's it. Maybe $2000 in damage?

My estimate is $4300 so far. Fair market value of the vehicle is $5660, which means that the threshold on damages before totaling (generally ~70% FMV) is $3990. Obviously that's a bigger #, so they're discussing now whether or not to total. Completely out of my hands.

I bought the bike barely 1.5 years ago, OTD ~$10,200 (with topcase!). I've been paying it off, and I have about $4000 left.

Basically this leaves me with squat if I want to replace the bike.
