Larry sorry to interferr in your 'quote'.
I am not ok with this thought (if I understood it correct with my limited enlish)
I think all have the right to ask what helmet the wear and whats the reason of it.

I hope i don't hit someones head with saing this, if yes, i am sorry.

You're right Andre, you may need to work on your English a bit more as you've missed the point of my statement. No one including me has a problem with people proffering advice on which helmet to wear and why they like them, etc.

The issue which I refer to is that of people who profess to know everything and thereby insist that we, the uninformed others, should only wear full-face helmets, most notably ones that meet their approval, otherwise our faces will be scraped off when we encounter the tarmac during that accident which is sure to come. Those are the same people who would have us all dressed in nothing less than 100% HiVis outfits and only ride bikes equipped with air bags. And perhaps training wheels somewhere down the line?

My response to them is the old ax "If you can't run with the big dogs stay on the porch." But of course saying so merely fans the flames of discontent and resolves nothing so I'll gladly retract it. I never said it.

Freedom of speech and thinking? You're preaching to the choir my friend. [Here in America that means we already have a small appreciation regarding that part.] You didn't hit my head but your comment of concern deserved a response. I would like to extend my thanks and appreciation to you for posting your feelings, I can't imagine how difficult it is to convey your thoughts in another language.

Best,

I just replaced my 12 year old, Nolan N100 modular with a Shoei Qwest Overt full face helmet. I tried a bunch on at the store and liked the fit and feel of the Shoei the best. I haven't ridden with it yet, just worn it around the house for an hour( to see if it had any hot spots or was headache inducing).

I ordered my helmet from Revzilla.com because they have a 30 day return policy and great customer service. I must have talked to the Revzilla dude for 20 mins about which brands were best for my head shape, type of riding, etc. My advice, whatever you end up going with, take your time to try helmets on and really access how it fits, feels, and functions. A helmet that is right for you may be terrible for someone else.

My two cents on helmet type; I think what you wear depends on the type of riding you do and what level of risk you are willing to take. Does a full face helmet protect you better than an open-face helmet, you bet. On the other hand, is a full face less comfortable than an open-face, I think so. Hell, some people don't wear helmets at all! I love the idea, wind blowing in your hair and all, but I could never take that much risk, but then again that's just me.

Interesting, you changed a modular for a full face... what is the reason?

Probably a modular Shoei (like the neotec) would have the same head shape...

Well there are about 250 reasons I did not go with the Shoei Neotec. All things considered it was quite a bit more expensive, I never rode with my old mod in the up position, and from what I read the full face is lighter and quieter. Not to mention, I really like the look of the Shoei Quest in Hi Viz. It also doesn't hurt that it is SNELL cert.

canopus, judging by your avatar, you have the Shoei Neotec? I do like the looks of yours as well.

Yes, It's a Neotec.

For me a modular is a must. I used a full face in the past, and hated when arriving home/office and need to look down to my pockets or whatever for keys/pass/etc and the full face block my vision looking down... also like to put it on opened, and do all the gloves and starting procedures.

So, it's closed when riding but open while doing parking stuff.

I also like a lot the solar visor controlled from outside the helmet.

I have a Fulmer 92, half helmet. I just don't want to be in a full face helmet anymore. Mine is white for safety, and I have three snap on face shields: clear for night, mirrored for bright sun, and smoky for in between.

DOT stickers are easy to come by. Besides he won't be able to breath through the face shield long enoug to clear the driveway.

let me correct what i didnt say, before ...

i can perdonally say thst my scorpion sxo 900 savwd my life im a revemt cage accident and plan on replacing my helmet with the same.

i can personally say that my scorpion sxo 900 saved my life in a recent cage accident and plan on replacing my helmet with the same.

smd folks, this s reen on my phone is so small that i hope things are readable, typing from my rejab room.

and folks, this screen is so small that i hope things are readable, typing from my rehab room.

ok i wore the hi-viz neon color and driver still didnt see me, even with myolympia toxic(neon yellow with bright orange colors, too) ... he said he was watching for cars, so i guess if i was semi truck he wouldnt have seen me either?

bet he watches better the next time, then again, i dont know if he is still allowed to drive.

ok, that should help those that didnt understand me before.

I wear a Schuberth C3, a flip front helmet, it is the quietest lid I've ever had. (previous lids include Shoei, Arai, AGV, and HJC) I'd rate Shoei as excellent, expensive but well worth it. Arai are also excellent but damned expensive. The finished peeled of my AGV the first time it was exposed to cold weather, an unimpressive lid. The HJC wore so badly in its first year the dealer gave me a new one under warranty, the replacement held up must better but still wasn't in the same league as the Shoei.

The Schuberth can be noisy with a windshield if the height isn't a good match but is excellent on an unfaired bike. I got an MP3 500 Touring with the adjustable two piece Give shield and a GTS with no shield.

I used to have an open face as well but gave that away the day after I got hit by a car. I hit my head on the road pretty solidly and the front of my fullface was scratched up pretty badly, the thought of what would have happened if I'd worn my openface that day was a little to vivid.

By the best fullface you can afford, your trying to protect yer noggin, not making a fashion statement!
I was told the Schuberth C3 Pro is really small compare to most other helmets. Does it fit under the seat in the MP3 500? Thanks!

When I first started riding I asked a friend what the best helmet was and he said Shoei. Fit well and I happen to like my noggin so paid the bucks and was very happy. In a low side I broke my collar bone but the helmet saved the login with three deep scratches in three different directions. Though I don't remember it, obviously bounced the noggin a bit sliding down the road.

Now I have a Shoei NeoTech and a J Cruise. Love them both and like the internal sun shade. Pick a decent quality lid that is comfortable and ride safe.
