Have been testing the new Scoot for Economy within its first 300KM riding in.

Have returned 78 Miles for £6.20, Urban riding with speeds up to 65MPH

This is give or take, 75 MPG or 3.8 litres per 100 kms

Always useful info to know if your thinking of buying a 300. I will update as the run in progresses to see if there is much variation

Interesting - I have both a GT200 and GTS300 and found the GTS300 much more thirsty but not sure if it was due to the fuel injection, my excited throttle wrist or another cause...

Please post more data as you go

Cheers

And that's interesting as I find the GT200 just as thirsty as the GTS250 (not the 300 mark you).

Update

Scoot is now run in and has 1270 KM on the clock

Last refuel saw a return of 118KM or

73 Miles for a fuel spend of £5.80GBP and a price of £1.32PL

That equates to 76 MPG or 3.72 Litres per 100KM

Same comute to work and back, urban riding with speeds up to 75MPH so all in all still pretty consistent.

Hmm...interesting. I've been compiling a spreadsheet of fuel economy since I bought my GTS300 Sport, and while I can't quote precise numbers off the top of my head, my feeling is that I get much closer to 60-63mpg (avg) than 70+.

The OP is from England and I'm sure he is giving mileage in imperial gallons. Since they are 20% larger than US gallons, 60 mpg US would be equivalent to 72 Mpg imperial.

1 imperial gallon is 1.2 us gallons.

So Masala, you are getting 72-75.6 imperial gallon per mile. That help?

Thanks guys for clarifying. I'm thinking how in the world are those guys getting such good mileage with their 300s. Mine was a 2010 300 Super, but it seemed like I was lucky to get 55-60 MPG (US) and it was probably closer to 50-55 MPG. But that was all crazy San Francisco city driving. I don't imagine fuel economy has changed much between 2012 (or 2013) and 2010 models.

I do mostly city driving on my 2010 GTS300 Super and get 45-50 MPG around town. On long trips it is closer to 65 MPG. Also note that I weigh about 290lbs.

Yes, much! At least I know it's consistent and I don't have a lemon or something...

My GTS300 after 2500kms with fuel economy being noted since new is :22-24kms per litre ...constant from fill to fill.

Fill is always 6 litres (+/- a tad) ...ASAP after light ON.

Earlier this summer, several of us went on a 300+ mile ride on the backroads through Kentucky, over into Indiana and back. Several of us had 250 and 300 GTSs. When we refueled, we checked our mileage and determined that our average mpg was 73.8. I thought this was amazing given how briskly we were riding. We had to jump on I-75 on the way home, so we refueled and ran flat out for about 30 miles. We stopped to refuel again when departing the interstate to calculate our fuel mileage. Our average was a tick under 51 mpg. Pretty amazing. It was a calm July day with temperatures in the upper 90 degree range.

Hey guys,

Browsing through the forum came across this thread thought i'd put in my two cents worth.

Running a GTS300i.e with 3000+kms on the clock now. Averaging about 3.34Litres/100kms or 29ishKms/Litre. Costs 43UScents a litre for the premium fuel so can't complain

My commutes are a mix of urban and freeway riding and so far been getting pretty consistent consumptions. This little rocket is great!

The "New GTS 300..." is a bit outdated (last post jan 2013) so my new figures might be useful for new GTS owners in 2014, for what it's worth.

When it was new, my 2014 GTS 300 (similar to 2013 model, not the 2015 ABS ASR model) used 3.2 liter/100 Km or 73 MPG (US). After some 500 miles its consumption stabilized at a 3.0 - 3.1 l/100Km, that's 78-76 MPG. On longer fast rides or with a buddy this might vary up to 3.2 (73 MPG). I throw in normal gasoline (95 octane).

From what I read about the GTS 300 at fuelly.com, I reside in the most economic league. Neverhteless, I consider myself as a coutious but swift driver. I'm not the WOT type, but far from the grandpa style. I like to kick its tail and leave cars and shifter-bikes in my mirror when the lights turn green

When breaking in the new engine I rode the GTS like I'm used to ride it, exept that I didn't WOT it (well, once in a while to test it). I rode mostly alone but was happy to take any buddy on multiple occasions. Most of my traffic is city and secondary roads, say 30 to 65 MPH and up to 75 MPH. I never drive highways since you need WOT and still, here in Belgium, there are too many crank-heads driving 90 to 100 MPH (instead of legal 75 MPH) passing you with a whoesssh. Now you have an idea of my driving style.

I'm pretty happy with that mileage per gallon, certainly for a swift Vespa like the 300. I honestly don't understand how some 300 drivers only get 50-55 MPG. Wha? emoticon I presume fuelly's average 61 MPG includes the constant-WOT drivers and older models.

My brother-in-law has a 250 which runs 4L/100km, some 58 MPG (US) so I expected - at least - something around that mileage, maybe a bit more. I was surprised to see my lhigh mileage confirmed after each fill-up. Apparently, the higher torque and lower RPM's than the 250 at the same speed makes the difference for my 300.

Any figures on rencent GTS 300's are most welcome for comparisson.
