In the UK we have 3 stages to the test
Its more complicated but for me I'll tell you what it is I'm only doing the A2 which restricts you to max 33bhp for 2 years. If you do the tests on an auto bike you can only Ride auto bikes. After 2 years you can ride any BHP but still auto for me 1. Pass theory test first 2. Module 1 - controlled manoeuvring , u turn, hazard avoidance (swerve), figures of 8, slow ride, manual handling of bike, controlled stop, emergency stop No feet down, must reach 51kph for swerve and prior to emergency stop. Have to do usual observations and no feet down or wobbling It's all about slow and safe control Module 2 - open road ride. Followed by instructor on open roads. You have to pass both or if you pass 1 and fail 2 you have to start again Theory test lasts 2 years though and isn't affected |

Congrats. 8) That's a lot of test. Here if you make it to testing site without killing yourself they practically pass you. I had a guy use my scooter once instead of his Harley on the test. Instructors don't mind. Always figured it would be a good second income to have a beater and hang out at the test site. All the people with big bikes would gladly pay 50 bucks to use the scoot.

Just that's scary if that's all you have to do
I've been riding 3 and a half years and covered nearly 34000 km in that time and all The instruction was still good as you get into silly habits The examiner did say to me "you should do this on a geared bike, you know how to ride and do it very well" but I was a little cross at that as I don't want a big monster bike with gears. I just want a 300 GTS!!! |

Sorry you guys in the US I think that's awful you have to prove so little
But your roads are so much wider than ours... Some of our 60mph country roads are only very narrow indeed... Perhaps that's why But I don't know if your insurance costs are higher? |

Well done
I only passed my part one and two this year (aged 47) and after mod 2 I felt like I had won the lottery... Such a relief after all the convoluted process and expense of getting there! |

Here you just, take a 10 question test, then ride (all slow speed) in an out of several cones and ride between two lines in a circle, that's it, and you get a motorcycle endorsement for your driver's license . |

Re: Passed Mod 1 thanks all!
Congrats Kitty! Very well done you! The module 2 should be a doddle for you as you have had extensive riding experience. I think it would be even easier if you did it on familiar roads so practice riding around the test centre and be especially aware of your lane and position selection when approaching roundabouts.
Good luck and make sure we do a ride when you get the new scoot! |

Cheers again all Sarah Went and brought myself a 300GTS yesterday which i pick up on tuesday. I dont no if it was just me but i found the Mod 2 easy, infact on the morning i was there i think everyone that day so far had passed so one of the DSA guys was telling me, word of advice for the Mod 2 is that when i done mine i'd say about 70% of the test were on 20mph roads so watch out, but the again that was at Erith in kent? But good luck |

Well done!
After I passed my mod 2 in July, I also treated myself to a GTS300! But just so you know, there will be a considerable difference in insurance prices! Which test centre are you doing your mod 2 at? |
