So sorry to hear, Wmak.
Our weekend may be turned upside down a bit in a similar fashion. Dan's mom called to say that one of her cousins committed suicide yesterday afternoon. He'd been battling a nasty bout of cancer for years, and just couldn't take the pain anymore. They're not sure if there's going to be a wake tomorrow, or what. I never even met the man, but damn... it still really sucks to hear about stuff like that.
Wmak and Witch...condolences to both of you. It is difficult to deal with the passing of a Family member or an aquaintance or like.
For everyone, remember sometimes someone will reach out to you to just "talk" about it. Give them some time and listen...there is a grieving process and there are social services that can help.
I had a friend who called to let me know that he was sorry he didn't call in awhile. His younger brother was battling pituitary cancer and passed away from cancer (50 years old). I made sure that he knew he could call me at anytime to just "talk". I did recommend that he also seek the help of social services and perhaps talk to his "kahu" (priest). He seemed to be doing fine...great Family support group.
Which reminds me I better give him a call. He's recovering from by-pass surgery.
