I don't think I'm letting the cat out of the bag when I say we were all worried that ScootChef's cat got out. She is safe at home now but I'm wondering if it was just a coincidence that Lime cat disappeared at the same time. Chef you may want to stock antibiotics and a pregnancy test kit stat.

Meanwhile I hope you Vespirados have fun weekend plans.

Weekend began on Thursday...
Thursday was spent down at Best Buy. Mary, our 80 year old upstairs neighbor who has adopted wife and self as her surrogate "son and daughter" wanted to get a new flat screen TV for her living room and move the current living room TV to her bedroom. She "volunteered" our services since she just had a knee replacement procedure done...no problem.

So off we go and coordinate the purchase and installation for next week...Seniors have high expectations...demanding!

Now it get's interesting. We sold her on upgrading her "free" cable box (she can do this at no charge due to our condo's new group agreement) which includes a "free" HD package. Now she'll have two cable hook ups with DDR feature, HD package at no cost for two years. After the second year anniversary she will need to pay just for the bedroom set up at $13.00 per month. The living room continues as a no charge.

So two years no charge and then it's $13.00 a month for the aforementioned cable boxes and services.

The basic cable will still be picked up by the condominium's maintenance fee (I know it's buried in the MF...but at least at a discounted rate). In comparision, Homeowners (mother-in-law) is currently paying close to ~ $75.00 basic HD but no DDR.

This is a new group package was offered to prevent losing to a competitive service.

Friday was a day a rest after all the stuff we did yesterday!

Saturday will be going upstairs to take care of cleaning out her cat's litter box and checking in on Mary.

"Life is Good"

Unfortunately, my weekend began with two funerals. One was an 86 year old from my church, who had been ill for some time, but the other was the three year old daughter of a former colleague who died in a school bus accident on Monday. Most of the people I know are still in shock, trying to find ways to comfort the families of the victims. Life is a gift, enjoy every day!

So sorry to hear, Wmak.

Our weekend may be turned upside down a bit in a similar fashion. Dan's mom called to say that one of her cousins committed suicide yesterday afternoon. He'd been battling a nasty bout of cancer for years, and just couldn't take the pain anymore. They're not sure if there's going to be a wake tomorrow, or what. I never even met the man, but damn... it still really sucks to hear about stuff like that.

I hope the Vess Bottling plant is on a historical register or are there plans to demolish...would be a shame.

Wmak and Witch...condolences to both of you. It is difficult to deal with the passing of a Family member or an aquaintance or like.

For everyone, remember sometimes someone will reach out to you to just "talk" about it. Give them some time and listen...there is a grieving process and there are social services that can help.

I had a friend who called to let me know that he was sorry he didn't call in awhile. His younger brother was battling pituitary cancer and passed away from cancer (50 years old). I made sure that he knew he could call me at anytime to just "talk". I did recommend that he also seek the help of social services and perhaps talk to his "kahu" (priest). He seemed to be doing fine...great Family support group.

Which reminds me I better give him a call. He's recovering from by-pass surgery.
