I recently purchased a very nice GT60 but the rear rack was rusted out. I decided to do a little "refresh" and acquired a NOS rear folding rack. I was able to remove the old rack off the scooter but couldn't remove the part I needed for the life of me... These two screws wouldn't budge and ended up stripping both of them. We're they meant to be removed? I noticed for the diagrams online that the side bars and rear folding rack was sold as a unit.

These are the stubborn bolts that I'm referring to:

I purchased this part to replace (didn't include the sided bar handle)

Looking for any guidance and help!
Thanks in advance![/img]

Normally when I take my rear rack off I remove the two screws you are showing to be stripped. So yes they should come out. It looks like you are going to need to remove the heads and back out the screws after a liberal application of penetrating oil.

Replace them with stainless Allen key types from Ace Hardware or other.

Yeah, those screws can be a real PITA. I replace them every couple times I mess with them (even after initially replacing them with stainless).

I'm going to say that part of the issue is that the insides of that grab rail are just tapped really poorly. This is even more true of the LXs that I've worked with. I love my accessories, but I freaking hate working with those 2 bolts on any LX or GTS/V.

Anybody know the size of the LX ones? Mine need to be replaced. People pull on the rack instead of the grab bar. It's rattling to much for me right now.

I just bought the same rack for my 300

It has come today but i have a couple of questions i would appreciate some help with

1) Does the rack 'lock' down in any way or is it always under spring tension. In other words, does it rely on there being something on it to stay down?

2) There are two brackets with the rack kind of s shaped with a 90 degree bend on one end. I dont know what they are for or how they fix to the rack/scoot

Thanks in advance

The rack should come with a plastic clip that will hold it down in use, but that clip is easily broken or lost. The aluminum after market clip with thumbscrew is much sturdier, as Brodyfrompa points out above.
