I purchased a part online from The Athens Scooter Company. The site took all info and I received a confirmation. The next day received email stating they no longer sold scooters or parts. I call to verify this was a real company, not just a great site to steal credit card info. They stated that it took 30 days to shut down their website.

One reason given for stopping sales was that it sometimes took a month to get a parts order from Vespa.

Sorry to hear that.

One of the things that I found out is dealers who sell Vespas dont usually carry Vespa items. One of the reasons quoted to me was the high prices.

I know there are some online stores that carry a lot of Vespa stock, so you should be able to find your item.

Good luck!

i think dutch posted a while back saying they were indeed going to stop selling vespa parts and bikes. i called them early this year to do my fuel pump recall and they knew nothing about it so i went down to cincinnati and had it done. i think they are a ford dealership.

They are part of a large auto dealership but now sell only ATVs and some kind of motorcycle from the former Vespa showroom.

I'll miss them. Nice guys

But as I've said before their mechanic went out on his own and comes to my house when I need him.

The main reason that dealers stock few Vespa parts is the same reason they stock few parts for any brand of scooter. Scooter dealerships are mostly small time operations and choose not to tie up much money in parts inventory. The very fact they can do this means that wholesale suppliers do a fairly decent job of filling their orders as needed. Having said that, we have all have had the experience of a long wait for a part that must come from Taiwan, or Japan, or Italy, or whatever. That is a consequence of having no US scooter industry and few locally sourced parts.

Try AF1 racing. They have a large inventory and are in Texas (New Braunfels and Austin).

Athens is / was part of the Don Wood Automotive Group. Stick with deadicated scooter dealers. Cannot go wrong with www.scooterwest.com

Takes a week to get parts shipped from coast to coast. AF1 would be a much better choice for someone on the East coast.

Doubt that there is a weeks difference between California and Texas. But AF1 also does a great job. Their website software is a little better than SW.

I didn't say there was a weeks difference, said it takes a week to get parts from west Coast.

West coast, 5 days.
AF1 2 or 3 days.

That can mean getting the part before the weekend instead of after it
