Hello All,

Does anyone know the correct part number for the GTS 250 oil filter? I removed part number 6a22 and the dealer sold me a replacement part number of 8E30. (These numbers are printed on the oil filter)

Anyone know if these are both valid part nums? The filters looked the same except the rubber seal on them. Threads matched.

thanks,
John Hovan

Neither one of those appear to be valid Piaggio OEM numbers. AF1 says the current OEM number is 82635R. The HiFlo HF183 is a common aftermarket alternative. Having said that, all LX/S 150s, GT/GTS 200/250/300 and most other Piaggio scooters with the same engines have used the same spin-on filter for at least half a dozen years so it is unlikely your dealer would have given you the wrong filter.

Does anyone know if there's a Purolator PureONE equivalent filter? Their website filter fit guide does not cover Piaggio/Vespa.

I read a lot of good things about this readily available filter type here and elsewhere on the web. Here are the only cross reference part numbers and dimensions that I could find:

HiFlo 183 #314-0183
Champion C320 #10050445
Malossi-Red chile #VM 0313382
Athena #FF P002
Piaggio #82635R
Filtrex: OIF026
Vesrah: W3

Dimensions (from Filtrex website):
Width: 55mm
Length: 73mm
Thread: 13mm
Pitch: 1.5mm

Missing is the seal diameter.

Most main dealers i no use the Hiflo 183 oil filter and now with it being TUV approved it's just like using a standard piaggio filter but for cheaper.

I always use the Hiflo 183 as it's half the price of the piaggio one, and when you see main piaggio/vespa dealers use them along with the piaggio item if wanted what's that telling you, infact come
to think about it i dont no one dealer "main and not main" that dont use Hiflo.

Go Hiflo and save urself some money as it does the exact same thing as the piaggio item, the Hiflo is an OEM replacement that is TUV approved so there is no point shelling out more than you have to.

Are the cheap oil filters just as good? (Post 358384)

I had some of each type sitting around for checking the fit of the Snowflake wrenches so I decided to open them up and see what (if any) the difference was.

Here's what I found
1. can of piaggio seems thicker than the hiflo
2. there is paint overspary on the inside of the piaggio filter
3. The hiflo has 39 folds in the filter element to piaggio's 34
4. The springs that hold the filter in place are different
5. the bypass valve on the hiflo was stuck and has a much stiffer spring than the piaggio

some pros and cons for each but as long as you change them on schedule you're probably fine.

Hi-flo is just as good as the OEM. I don't pay high dollar prices for oil filters anymore.
