The answer is in this side-by-side street test. Vespa goes head-to-head with a T-Max and other scoots.

Looks like my money was well spent! I wonder how other Vespa models would have placed in this contest.

I am very curious to know what tires were used for the GTS300 in the braking test seeing as it was clearly not stock.
with its malossi exhaust, Mp3 Wheels etc etc.. |

Good lord that is the ugliest GTS I've ever seen. Couldn't someone give them a bone stock unit for the test? Jeezus
I can't believe the GTS almost beat the T-Max in the drag race! The GTS300 is the best all around bike on the planet if you factor in coolness. Now if we put the GTS300 up against a SH300 or BV350 things may not look so good. |

I bought my GTS 300 about 2 weeks ago and all I can say is that I love it. I always dissed the Vespa in the beginning for a couple of reasons. One is that I didnt like the fact that the fame is in fact the body and was concerned (still am) about damaging a body part and would have to repair rather then just change like plastic fairings not to mention easily totaled depending on the repair shop. And the other reason is the cost of parts versus other Italian Scooters. I was also concerned about it not being so nimble, for some reason it looked big to me at first and was worried I wouldnt be able to zip in and out of traffic. I was completely WRONG, its much more nimble then my old sportcity
Once I test road the Vespa all that was history. It has one of the nicest rides I have ever experienced as far as scooters. Dunno maybe its because I came off a scooter that I was having such a hard time with and once I rode the Vespa I was like WOW, WTF!! All in all I am extremely satisfied with the exception of price but this is because other scooters although being similar in price you get more cut off the MSRP making them much more cheaper then a vespa. |

It looks like the Vespa had the Piaggio 13" wheels. I wonder how much that helped in the competition.

Who cares what the tests showed, i think everyone on here knew already that the GTS is a class scooter in every sense of the word
If anything them tests only showed us what we already knew. |

Vespa against a TMax ?? Different animals.
Surely there's no sensible comparison there. Vespas are great at what Vespas do, TMaxs are great at what TMaxs do. I find it hard to imagine that anyone sees one as a competitor/rival for the other. |

I've got faith in my Vespa to the tune of 64.000 km I bought my GTS because it is a Vespa. Other scooters may be "better", but they are not Vespas, so they would not be an alternative for me, no matter how much better they are. |
