Well, just did my first oil change on my MP3 500. Got the parts for from AF1 racing. Went pretty smooth. Old Oil filter didn't fit my wrench attachment I bought for the new filter so I had to puncture it with a big ol nail setter and get it off barbarian style. No problems. Went for a lil spin afterward. 46 degrees in Chicago today. Brrr.
Next one will be in 1/2 the time!

My first change was quite an adventure. Made a few good screwups in the process, too, but got it all done in the end!

I like the fact that the filter on the 500 is not on an angle. Straight in so you don't spew oil everywhere. Those Italians ! Love it.

Yeah, I'm not sure how the 500 is, but I'd consider the 400 to be a straight-in job as well. Which is nice. That damn shrouding around the oil filter though, that part is a bit of a pain in the butt because it interferes with getting a solid grip.

Well said. I'm gonna have to take my dremel and grind down that oil filter socket because of the shrouding.

not if you use an HF-184 filter and a Buzzetti oil filter wrench.

I wouldn't be grinding that down. It is there to protect the filter from punctures. Yes it can happen.

It's the little things: Catastrophic Engine Failure
