That is exactly what I did to mine. When I got it the battery was removed and the wiring was tied up. Luckily they didn't cut any of the wires. I just reinstalled the battery and got a stock rectifier/regulator. I put the turn signals back on and now all the lights are working. The headlight is bright and does not dim when I step on the brake.
For sure. My conversion plan NEVER demands that the original wiring be removed or cut. Hell, those turn signal circuits are great for powering external gauges and lights. Flip the turn switch and LIGHTS!

Hey SF & Stewart, how about posting the modifications and parts for converting to AC for the Rally? Would like to see how you do it!

batteryless conversion info?
I also would also like a list on what gets connected where. MJRally described what he did, but maybe a more specific description of each connection change would be helpful or a diagram showing the changes.

Doesn't seem like it would be too hard to figure out something to try, but one mistake could be costly. Seems to be commonly done successfully(except working horn?) so why reinvent the wheel?

Convert your 70's US Vespa to No Battery 12V AC

I wrote mine up on my smallframe. All of the double yellow conversions are basically the same. SFvsr hasn't been posting on here for a long time, which is kind of a shame because he knew his crap - even if he was a bit cranky.
