I did a search and mostly this came up in the MP3 threads.
I just completed the MSF course. I am a fairly new rider. I only got my two scoots running at the end of this summer. I did pass. Yes I would recommend this course. It made me aware of some things I hadn't thought about. The classroom portion explains skills, techniques and things to be a safer rider. The range portion then puts you into positions where you are forced to use them.
My state lets you take the course instead of paying for the DMV appointment test. It came out to be much cheaper this way to being licensed. Haven't used the discounts yet.
The double U-turn range skill ( I think the box is 24ftx60ft) was my worst and least comfortable maneuver.
We had to use the range motorcycles so, no I wasn't on any of my scoots.
They had me on an suzuki tu250. Everyone else was on low yamaha 125cc eliminators. I was about 6-8 inches higher in the saddle than my classmates. I never felt comfortable with the grip to the pavement on that tu250 at slow speed.
I'm sort of trying to figure out how much of my difficulty was me and how much was the motorcycle?
When I got home I tried it on my two scoots. No problems on the vintage. The rear brake pedal and clutch plus the low center of gravity and 8" wheels.
Hadn't figured out how to do it on the 2005 GTL. The rear brake and throttle are on the same side and there is no rear brake pedal. Trying to roll the throttle and engage the brake lever isn't really working for me, and sort of seems dangerous.
Can you all give me some pointers?
