I wonder if the medical marijuana law passed in MA? Did WA pass a form of legalization of pot? Very cool. Beware of driving in states where it's not legal. I have a friend who lives in MA who went to the Bonaroo concert in TN and got pulled over and they found some. Cost him big bucks to get out of it. Told him they were going to profile and sure enough everyone in jail was from MA.

Washington state and Colorado both outright legalized for recreational use. I know there was at least one state that legalized MMJ, but a couple that didn't.

Both states allow up to 1 oz for adults 21 and over. CO allows a secure private 6 plant grow, while WA has a year to figure it out. Unlicensed sale is still illegal.

(a) One ounce of useable marijuana;
(b) Sixteen ounces of marijuana-infused product in solid form; or
(c) Seventy-two ounces of marijuana-infused product in liquid form.

I-502 sets a per se DUI limit of active blood THC levels at greater than or equal to 5 nanograms per milliliter.

There is a DUI clause, with blood test levels specified. Not sure how long you have to wait to not be under the influence.

You're certainly correct. The law is imperfect, but it is a good start IMHO.

Imagine the amount of tourism dollars that will pour into both states once the laws are in place.

In Oregon it did not pass 55% to 45% because the law was written badly. Otherwise prohibition would have ended here as well.

There was a provision in the law that said the state would have to pay to defend you if the federal government pressed charges against you. Stupid author is the owner of a chain of medical marijuana shops across the country so it would really benefit him.

I am a cop in Washington, I won't ever use pot (I hate feeling impaired), and I am very happy this passed.

It does bring up a lot of interesting questions. For instance most officers in Washington are not trained to do drug DUIs, and the training requirements to be able to do so are notoriously strict (meaning it has a huge washout rate). Now that every officer in Wa needs to have this training are they going to relax the requirements?

From a practical standpoint while the law goes into effect Dec. 2012, but legal sale does not start until Dec. 2013 is it really worth our time to arrest pot dealers who's cases will likely be dismissed because their trade will be legal by the time their cases go to trial?

Reno found it to be too expensive to prosecute impaired/drunk driving, so they stick them in a tank until they're sober.

Maybe an educational campaign is needed. "Get high at home". Discount taxi rides. You could issue cards with one line on them: See more than one line? Don't drive.

I don't think everyone is that square. But some are.

I would like to see some stats regarding driving casualties after states imposed medical marijuana programs. That would be interesting.

I drink beer. I drink scotch. I enjoy snus. All in moderation. And only when I feel comfortable enough to know that the kids are all taken care of and my drinking won't keep me from caring for them properly.

I'm not against pot. I'm for it actually. I think it's a good thing. And, if you're a responsible adult, you should be able to enjoy it. Will it be abused? Yes. But most people will be just fine. Do I use it? No.

I hope this post hasn't crossed any lines here.

We can grow plants here for medical use and the only time it becomes a problem with too many is if your neighbors don't like you. Our local cop is too funny. He says "man they should just share some and then we wouldn't have to bust the people for having to many plants". You can get a card for about 100 bucks.

When I smoke, I have to go to Amsterdam, not getting shitting Mall Pot there.
