Hi Guys

I have just rebuilt my carb and found this piece extra on my bench. Looks like a ferrule for copper piping but I have no idea where it came from. i cant remember seeing it when taking the carb apart. Does it come from my SI24/24 carb?

If not then someone is playing a trick on me, quite funny though......

Also, no smart arse comments that I have left the float out as well

Cheers

Hi SFvsr, glad that it is not something that I left out of the carb.

Speedo housing keeper? Would you mind explaining so that I can put the part back where it belongs, thanks

The brass bit goes on the end of the speedo cable housing and sqeezed so it won't go any where.

This is how:
First, slide the rubber boot with threaded collar over the end of the housing. The threaded collar is the part that screws onto the brass fitting holding the pinion gear into the drive gear in the hub/fork. Then, before putting that brass bit on housing, push the speedo cable into the brass fitting with pinion gear to get an idea how deep the housing will go into brass fitting. Put a small mark on housing - this is where the brass bit will go. Pull out the speedo cable from brass fitting and push the brass bit onto end of housing where that mark is. Use some pliers to smoosh it so it won't fall off of housing. Now install the speedo cable and screw down the aluminum collar. The collar will pin the housing w/brass bit against the brass fitting, keeping the speedo cable from pulling out.
