this is easy, is someone would be so kind to check their scoot and tell me what i should see. i recently replaced the front and back headset and am having a problem getting it to come together completely on the right (throttle) side. there's a about an eighth of an inch gap at the bottom where the two sections meet up. i just noticed however, about an eight of an inch gap around the inside of the headlamp reflector where it looks like the two pieces of chromed (plastic) come together. if this should be pulled together, it could be my problem. on the other hand, it might be a "slack" area to allow for adjustment. if someone could check theirs and let me know, that would be great. thanks in advance.

VIC can you get a pic of what your talking about? I'll go down and look for you. Have your plastic tabs been broken on the headset? Both of mine are but even with that i think mine fits together. There is some space there but i'll check it out for ya.

Did you perhaps replace your headset plastic with one of the chromed aftermarket versions? If so, imperfect reproduction may be the problem. Another possibility may be the routing of the many wires/cables strapped to the handlebars. Things are pretty tight in there in spots, and a misrouted wire or two can hold the two halves of the plastic apart. |

Thanks to all on the headset / headlight question. Sorry, l I may not have been as clear on the chrome issue. The gap I am speaking about is indeed part of the headlamp assembly. So that becomes a non-issue for my headset issue. The problem with the headset, is that it snaps together everywhere except under the right hand (throttle) grip. The front section of the headset binds up against the right angle throttle connectors. Its like the front headset portion needs a little more depth, or the connectors extend forward about a quarter of an inch too much. Upon trying to reinstall the old front section, the problem is not as great and the parts will fit with minimal binding. The reason for the replacement, is that the area (front and back) of the headsets screw together completely broke apart. I think stress issue and at this point am stuck as what to do. I did notice that the top throttle cable connector looks like it could be screwed in about a quarter inch more which might solve the problem. This would mean I would have to remove
the top cable completely and reinstall. I doubt if anyone has had a similar experience but if you have, please let me know. Thanks. |
