Modern Vespa

Hi, All:
I would like to comment on something that a fellow member of the Modern
Vespa websight did for me. I had admired a very nice Water Buffalo skin pouch that he had pictured on the front rack of his GTV300. I had been looking for one like it, and mentioned it to him, well out of the blue he sent one to me, and wanted no payment. I was just getting over a member of a BMW forum stiffing me for about $100.00 when I had trusted him and sent him some equipment. I was down on the human race, but our fellow member Doug Sharp gave me a new outlook. Generosity like his is becoming
hard to find, and he sure made my day with his. here is a picture of my scooter with it mounted on the front rack.

I had a really nice thing happen recently as welll.

As you probably know, gas is a tough commodity to find in my area right now. I tried to get gas after the storm last week, but the lines were full of people over from Jersey with an average of 3-4 large red gas canisters along with big SUV tanks to fill. I waited about half an hour, but because there was no limit on how much gas you could pump, people were hoarding. Tempers started to flair and then it started getting a little nasty, so I left. I wanted gas to get around while public transport was out, but nothing was worth that hassle. I parked the scooter at home and forgot about it.

Husband had to go to Rotterdam yesterday for work. He called the car service guy (Ibrahim) we've been using for airport drops/pickups for years, and off they go. Several hours later, Ibrahim texts me to say that my husband mentioned to him that I struck out at the pump the week before. He had just gotten gas for himself, and he was coming by to give me a gallon or two. I told him not to worry about it, I didn't NEED it, but he insisted. He met me at my garage in the East Village at 10:30pm on his way home to Queens with a little 2gallon canister that he had filled for me when he stopped to refill his own canisters. He waited in a gas line for over two hours, and came back into the city to fill my tank before he went home because he didn't want me to be stressed about not being able to ride my scooter. Was so kind, and considering how hard the gas shortage is on livery and cab drivers, so incredibly generous.

I've had people send me free gloves here, offer to fix my scoot, taught me stuff for free, give me deals on stuff, do fund raising for downed riders....

Modern Vespa is good people.

I am often overwhelmed and also humbled at the connections, advice, generosity and willingness to help that comes from this forum. It has been an amazing testament to Vespa owners and what that means.

This story proves that there are still good folks out there, hats off to you!
