Modern Vespa

I was given a Polini exhaust for my smallframe (stock carb and everything else). Any advice on what main jet to use? I started with a 78 and the plug came back a bit on the light side. The next one I had was 80 and it seems a nice color after a plug chop, but it feels very boggy and I lost top speed in every gear. Should I take out the wadding in the air box? It felt way better a with the 78, but the color worried me. Any thoughts?

No ideas? Rode it to work this morning and it feels boggy through 1st, runs well through second and then seems to lose power in 3rd. 4th is as it has always been. Sounds good though...

"Usually" you don't need to go up more than 4 points, I'd say 2, with the Polini so the 78 should be in the ballpark but every scoot is different.

Maybe I didn't run it long enough when I did the plug chop with the 78 jet in. The plug looked light though, not white, but not creamed coffee either. It seemed to run great though. Like they all do right before they seize...

I will step it back down tonight and see how it looks.

Yeah, go ahead and pull the air filter/box. Or drill a bunch of holes in it. Or just take out the mesh that is in it.
