Hi:

I've had rusted rims sandblasted in the past and was left with a bunch of pits that required filler and high build primer to repair.

Rather than blast I was wondering if I could remove all the loose rust, then use POR-15 or similar paint to form a stable, relatively pit-free surface, and start from there.

Anyone have any experience trying this? Thanks

For a Heinkel. Not as easy to get new compared to other scooters. Thanks

The wheels I had when I bought my Rally were likely the original ones. So, I when I saw all the rust on the inside I sanded the $#% out of them. then just painted with 3 coats of rust oleum black. they were really pitted bad, but the sanding leveled everything nicely. I used them for years after.

have them glass blasted, not sand blasted. It will leave the surface ready for primer.
