Okay, so I am riding down the road today and it becomes obvious to me that I prefer my scooter over all other modes of transportation (including my other bike). What is it about these damn scooters that gets one so addicted?

Seriously, I am really trying to nail this one down...

My other bike has the basics just like my scooter: two wheels, handlebars, motor, etc. It gets me from point A to point B in style. It is more comfortable than the scooter. Can't beat it for the highway speeds either, much faster than the Vespa.

On the other side of the equation the scooter is more practical around town. Better gas mileage and all. I PREFER it.

And then it dawns on me...the bike just isn't as FUN as the Vespa.

This all being said, my question is this: What is it about these infernal machines that makes them so much fun to drive? This one would like to hear your opinions...

Dunno! I've asked the same question, after 28 bikes the scooter is the most fun!

The are so very responsive, any change in the throttle or a twitch of the handlebar and the little bugger responds. I've found most bikes, as in motorcycles, tend to feel heavier and slower to respond unless they are a proper sport bike, then they have the quick responsive nature of a Vespa, but there's always the knowledge that they're plotting to kill you. My Kawasaki Ninja always felt like it was on a knife edge in corners and wanted to go faster RIGHT NOW! It was fun but you had to watch that thing, even after 45000km it kept me on my guard, not relaxing.

Maybe thats it, the Vespa is always in the correct mood! You want to putter around, its fine with that, a quiet little puppy happy to oblige. Feeling crazy? Have a yank on the throttle cable, wail down the road, nail the binders and and chuck it into the next bend, its the perfect partner in crime.

or it could be that they are just FUN!

Right, but I am trying to ascertain what specifically is more FUN on the Vespa... Everyone has their own particular take on why their scooter is more fun than other modes of transport.
