It's not hard, but clean the drive unit first, and see if it's all gunked up, and clean it out with some carb cleaner and a q-tip....and compressed air....
My Typhoon had issues with that....and fixed the starter problem....
The drive unit comes out by just removing the variator cover....no need to to remove the Drive belt, and variator.....I also put a little lithium grease on the starter drive ends, before reassembly....
