Guys I got most of an order together for giving the 1963 vespa vbb 150cc some new life but I'm just a bit stumped on the carb as to what it's referred to as in model/ type there for it makes it difficult ordering a carb kit. Can you fill in the blanks?please tell me a bit about the carb, type model and anything else thAt may help in its performance?

Good question lol sponge I beleive. Any more technical specifications According to the stamped number? this is on the pArts site which is where I ordered everything from Fits the the following SI carburetor models: 20/15 20/17 20/20 24/24 26/26 but how do these numbers connect up with the carb? Also I don't see an air filter in the part link.

They are all the same so that kit will work with your carb.

And the air filter:

http://www.scootermercato.com/Scooter-Parts/Air-Filters/Z019

You'll need to clean all your jets yourself as scooter carb kits won't come with the jets like they sometimes do with motorcycles.

I'd also look into a cable kit as I wouldn't trust what's go on in there even for a spin around the block:

http://www.scootermercato.com/Scooter-Parts/Complete-Cables/CCKRALLY

Once you've established whatever that black stuff is, get rid of it and whatever was causing it.

Also, I haven't seen a carb box lid in any of your pictures so if you don't have one:

And the rubber kit that goes with it:

Thanks guys I'll order up the carb kit and filter. I did order a cable kit that covers the whole bike, along with all other wear items I could think of, about 300 bux worth so far. Are these carbs bullet proof or very much touchy?
I'm thinking that black sponge may have gotten sucked in and probably was really leaning out the mixture.

If that's some kind of black foam filter material(lower right) stuffed into the rubber intake, you need to remove it.
If not, please tell us what it is. Headache emoticon

I know, but judging by the rest of the work I wouldn't be surprised if the carb is wasted as well. It's not hard to warp them.

Yes I did remove the top to give a view of the inside of carb. I'll take it off strip the rubber off it and give it a good soaking in the kleen flo.

Toss that foam and that wire mesh filter as it's not going to do anything. Replace it with the proper filter I linked to and be done with it.

Why has no one mentioned that it is the wrong carb for a VBB? Should be a 20/17, not a 20/15.

Probably first things first, one thing at a time plus overload, I'd say. But OK...

I'm not surprised, nothing surprises me anymore about this scoot. Funney thing is it runs great. Is the the 20/17 smaller than the 20/15? actually I'm thinking bigger and maybe the 20/15 is jetted fat.

Before the rebuild of my P150, it had a 20/15 carb in there. It ran sweet and had maybe 5kph less top speed than I do now with an OKO 24mm on there. Don't sweat it too much on a standard 150. If you have the jetting right, just sort that filter situation out and see how it is.

When I pulled the tank the clear gas line was hard like rock and slid right off the petcock so yes is on the todo list. It's a curry alright.

Thanks for that info it helps a lot. Don't suppose you remember the 20 15 jet sizes?
Thanks
