Hi All,

I haven't posted here for some time, but have occasionally been keeping an eye on the site. Glad to see that so many are still passionate about their Vespas.

After a couple of years on the 150ie, my wife is ready to step up to bigger scoot. We've been thinking about picking up a new 300ie for her and I thought I'd solicit some opinions on the bike.

We were caught up in the 150ie's FI teething pains a couple of years ago and had to have our fuel pump replaced under warranty. Any known trouble areas or recalls involving the 300ie?

She's thinking about sticking with the Midnight Blue scoot, though we were just offered a good deal on a Daring Plum model. I'm voting for the blue; I'd hate to think of her feeling as though she'd 'settled' just to save a few hundred bucks up front.

Depending on the VIN, a number of 300's also had the fuel pump problem. If the dealer hasn't already done so, all they have to do is check the VIN with Piaggio's list of affected scooters to find out. Other than that, I've never read about any other persistent problems, recalls, campaigns, etc. with the 300.

Yes, that's correct - my 2009 GTS300 is in the dealers now for the free fuel pump replacement, though it had no faulty symptoms. I did have a faulty fuel gauge (sender unit) that's been replaced at the same time - it would read either completly empty or 3/4 full but not much else, whatever the actual tank level I did spot this when I bought it from the first owner in May.

There are plenty of posts on GTS300 niggles but not many consistent themes that keep coming up, except perhaps wheel wobble...

Thanks, guys. Sounds as though a new GTS 300ie will be joining us shortly.

As a proud owner of a midnight blue GTS 300ie, I can honestly say that buying it was the best decision I ever made and I have never been happier. Best of luck to you, post pics if and when you do purchase it!

My Wife and I bought 2012 Supers. Wife's still makes a clunking sound when she drives off the curb. Dealer thinks the front shock is bottoming out. Otherwise we have not had any troubles. They run great and we have had a great summer riding. Recommend this scooter to anyone. I would also buy the blue and spend the money. A couple hundred dollars won't even be missed in a couple of months, but a compromised color will always be in your mind.

I agree 100%. That's what we're going to do!

My dealer ordered a Plum model for a customer who reneged. I think that he's offering the discount because he's tired of looking at it...

The new bike is on its way! Should get to the dealer sometime tomorrow, so that'll likely mean a Friday or Saturday pickup, what with the holiday in the middle of things this week.

It'll make a nice addition to the bike collection!
