Hi folks,
I would like to replace the transmission belt by myself. Do I really need a pneumatic gun? I already have a torque wrench. Is it feasible to screw off the main bolt by hand?

Thanks in advance

with a torque wrench you need a buzetti tool to hold the vario

with a pneumatic (air) gun you need nothing else

I have a tutorial that lists the tools:
Belt Change pdf

You can use an impact wrench to remove the driven pulley nut.
But if you don't...
You can use a 21 x 23mm Deep Offset Wrench:
Craftsman 12 pt Deep Offset

Which is only $20

You will still need a variator holding tool to remove and tighten the variator nut.

Operative word on the wrench is "deep" offset. Standard ofset won't get it. I had to order one from Sears as not a normal stock item.

If you're going to use pneumatic, look into getting some torque limiting extension bars.

If you are going to use these, read the directions and make sure the air pressure to your air gun isn't set too high

Read the directions sure, but the point of these is that the air pressure doesn't matter as much. Once you get to the torque that the bar is tuned for it just starts to wobble about and vibrate (it's basically a tightly wound spring) while it lets the impact driver fight against the resistance. The spring (extension bar) lets the impact hits unwind it enough to compensate for the set limit of the torque and snap back to formation for the next impact hit. I double check the torque against a torque wrench every few times and it's always within a few ft-lbs.

As always, use what you feel comfortable with (and this is key), just know that there are other options out there.

Perfect! But make sure that the rust is metric, not SAE.
