Just getting used to this forum and web site. I found a battery at Impact Battery 76.96 sealed and the right size. I will report on it when I get it, ordered thru MotoBatt MB10u. I charged up the old battery, it was very low on water. It is at 12.1-12.2 volts. The check engine light comes on with increased revs, it is OK at idle. It gets up 16-17 volts with increased engine speed, as measured at the battery. Should I wait for the new battery, charge it up and then check? Or, is it the voltage regulator. thanks Jim

Going through the same here, voltage reg.. My problem is a bit more confusing as my voltage at higher rpm is not even 12 volts, hoping for voltage reg. Good luck, the 500 is a he'll of a good bike.

It's absolutely the Voltage Regulator. I had a 2007 BV500 and had the same symptoms. Replace the VR. There have been more than a handful of 07, BV500's with bad VR's that have posted on this forum. Your VR is killing or has already pretty much destroyed your battery. Replace the VR asap. If you're gong to do it yourself, the VR sits under the rear fender above the tire but you must disassemble a bunch of plastic body pieces to get to the connectors on the right hand side of the bike under the plastic panel.

New BV500 owner
Thank you for the prompt replys. I see a lot of information about this topic on the net. I am looking for a place to purchase a replacement Voltage regulator. It looks like the part number is 58086R-37? I see many different prices and suggested substitutes. Jim

This thread has info re. the part number. The VR in your BV500 is the same one that is used in other Vespa models like the GTS. It's a Ducati part.

Here's the link to the thread.
