Modern Vespa

I swear, I love my MP3. But some of the choices they made in design are just a pain in the ass. I figured it might be fun to vent a bit and see what the little irritations were for others here as well.

For me, tonight, it was driven home how annoying the setup to access the headlight module is. 13 (THIRTEEN!) screws before you can remove the unit to replace a headlight bulb or upgrade them. And most of them really aren't necessary, had they just made the easily removed central front panel go down a little further and clip in.

The price you pay for riding the cutting edge of technology.

Give it a few years, they will work out the bugs... hopefully!

Yeah same on my old 250. Seems excessive.

A bit off topic, but why the heck do manufacturers use screws and bolts that are three or four times longer than they need to be? What good are all those threads hanging out the back end doing, anyway? It gives me a pain in the wrist just thinking about all those unnecessary turns!

My biggest issue was with the heavy can on the 400 and 500's and the bushing that seems almost designed to fail. Fixed now. Thank you Akrapovic.

Oh, they're not supposed to give you pain in the wrist from the turning - they're supposed to give you pain in the wrist, arm, hand from the scraping you'll do reaching over them!

pulling up to a stop sign and looking at the road surface you believe it is even,, only to find out it isnt and my 500 starts tippng and there isnt anything i can do but get out of its way.

seat that feels awesome for an hour, then it turns evil... how did they do that?
v-belt that needs to be changed almost as often as the oil.
Incandescent bulbs everywhere.
deliberately inaccurate speedometer.
those 2 bolts on the front side panels that don't actually hold anything to anything.
star head bolts and hex bolts -- flipping pick one!

These mp3s are not boring by any meansand they are not perfect. BBBUUUTTT ---They are magnificant beasts!!

I think someone posted that that is an Italian or European law.

I've been craving more power. Just don't want to get ride of the MP3. We'll see what the future holds.

Think of it as a security measure, thief will think twice before stealing your module, he/she has to unscrew 13 screws!! Good thinking Piaggio

Well, Ahem, some lead very boring lives

One Low Beam and One High Beam leads the question from an admirer; "Hey, one of your lights is burned out!!"

Being told when I first saw the bike, "Yeah, you can just stick your helmet in the trunk, it'll fit perfectly." Yeah, right! Can't fit my boulder sized helmet in the trunk but I still enjoy the heck out of this machine!!

Sounds like my wife's logic in setting clocks ahead so she isn't late.

Put your feet on the ground. That should clear that problem up for you.
