Hey guys, over on the General Discussion side, Richard H. Lemmon is asking about what's available in shifty scooters. He's a great guy, 90 years old and a retired WWII veteran Aviator who is still riding, albeit on a CVT Vespa.

He's been ruminating about Stellas (CA enviro laws and all), but there's got to be some good, well maintained P200's on the market in the Sacramento area.

So, if you know of something good in the area, why not surprise him with a PM. Will buy you a couple of ouzos next time you are in the neighborhood if you help him with a score.

Good plan Al, I suggested to Bar Italia that they contact him. I love his persistance.

Imagine the stories that the person who hooks Mr. Lemmon up with a nice shifty will have to tell!

Before anybody gets started, might be good to view the THREE threads he already launched to get up to speed.
Here, here & here.

AL, That's the good ouzo then?

Actually, I prefer Souma (raki/tsiparo in other regions) myself, but didn't want to use the bandwidth to explain it to the Xenoi.

As a retired military Aviator myself, I'd love to toss back a few with him.

I'm beginning to think arthritis will require my last scooter to be battery-powered and very maneuverable, although I hope to kick start Vespas for a while yet. An electric start conversion on an older P could keep the dream alive.

I bought a Rally from an 80+ y.o. retired fighter pilot, still with a medical and towing gliders in VA. My social circle is quite a study of genetics, although choices and lifestyles seem to have some effects as well.

Years ago I might have impatiently kicked for a while. Now after a few with no results, I tend to stop and look for the cause.

I hope Mr. Lemmon finds him a shifty and has great fun.
