Did the '66 Bluebadge smallframe originally come with wheel nuts that require a 14mm wrench/socket instead of 13mm?

Yes. They were oversize. Kinda weird, huh? That shit through me the first time I saw it.

These were the standard size for most European production automotive hardware until the mid/late '60s. All Vespas should have 14mm outers on all m8 threads prior to '67. The only exception are the M8 threaded fasteners that hold early 4-lug split rims together, which should be thin-walled 11mm outer-type. Both of these are very hard to find these days, which is why you see the wrong, common 13mm stuff on so many restorations.

Unless the rest of the bike is perfectly original I just use new nyloc nuts and call it an upgrade.
