I was in O'reilly auto parts yesterday and spotted a good deal on Rotella T6 full synthetic oil for 19.99 a gallon. It's regularly $28.99.
Just passing this along to interested MV members.

Maybe an in-store special?
Walmart is consistent in pricing on gallon size, ~$22.00 - 24.00. Just bought a gallon not too long ago and we'll dispense 1000cc as needed during oil change. O'reilly also has their branded Dexcool coolant. Just bought a gallon and changed coolant while reparing hose leak. Remainder held for others to use. |

Yes it will work, But there are definite disadvantages.
"Dexcool-type extended life coolants use organic acid technology to inhibit corrosion, and are referred to as OAT based coolants. OAT antifreezes are touted as having longer potential service life than conventional antifreezes because of the fact that the components in the additive package are not chemically consumed as they perform their function of inhibiting corrosion. The chemicals used in the OAT type formulas protect metals from corrosion by forming a thin, molecular coating on them, and because of this, are not as fast acting as conventional inorganic formulas. However, as long as the cooling system is kept sufficiently full and coolant is not lost due to leakage nor diluted by top-off with water or conventional antifreeze, it will continue to function properly.Unfortunately, if the cooling system is not properly maintained, a "red muck" is likely to form and could cause serious cooling system problems. GM shops flush this crap out everyday because of this issue. ⚠️ Last edited by WEB-Tech on UTC; edited 2 times

Here's another Dex Cool coolant that is an ethylene glycol type.
From their website: Pennzoil® DEX-COOL® Extended Life Antifreeze & Summer Coolant. Pennzoil® DEX-COOL® Extended Life Antifreeze & Summer Coolant is a single-phase, ethylene glycol type automotive engine coolant. Nitrite, borate, phosphate, nitrate, silicate and amine-free formulation minimizes abrasive solid deposits |

o'reilly's, sticky!
i checked chinamart first...wasn't sure about the price as the price sticker wasn't the right one for the product...but i guessed it was $21.something. that's what i paid and some change with the sales tax. there's a kmart near, but it's a smaller one and i didn't bother to check(they had seafoam on sale awhile back that i stocked up on). |
