Hi,

My GT200, run dry 100yards before the petrol station, I pushed it the rest of the way filled up the tank.... Then I tried to start her and got nothing, just the starter motor turning over. I shook the bike, waited a few hours.. But nothing,

She almost started, but didn't and with out a kick start I'm stuck, surely running dry should not cause a non start after filling?

I followed all Vespa guidelines... ie turned key off and just pushed it to the petrol station.

Please help!!!!

It will take some time with the starter turning before the fuel gets down to fill the carb again (vacuum fuel tap) - but are you sure it actually ran dry and wasn't a co-incidental fatal fault while very low on fuel?

Check for spark etc.

Another possible explaination is a clogged fuel filter (or jet). When all the crap from the bottom of the tank got sucked into the fuel line, it plugged up the filter and is restricting flow to the carb.

Old, Old wife's tale.
You know the fuel pick up sits right on the bottom of the tank not floating on top? So any crap gets picked up every time you start the engine.

Put a straw in a glass so it's sitting on the bottom, suck on the straw. Does the straw get the liquid from the top or bottom of the glass? Works the same in a gas tank.
To make this more visual, add two different color liquids to a glass, so you have one color on top and another color on the bottom, like a Black and Tan.
Suck on straw and document results. This is how it was demonstrated to me in class.

I have always thought this. It is good to see someone spell it out for me.

I agree with jimc. I ran out of fuel on my GT200 one time out in a rural area. I aquired about a quart of fuel from a gentleman(enough to get to a service station) and it started up in short order.
