Im after a front fork for a series 2 GS160,

Been offered a complete SS180 front fork very cheap,

My question is are they the same? ive asked 2 people, 1 peson said yeah, other person said no, the mudguard mount is different and maybe steering lock??


anyone know for sure ??

Mk I and most Mk II GS 160 model forks are very different from the SS 180, both in the locking mechanism and the steering stops. Some late '64 GS 160 models used the SS-style steering lock, but the steering stops are still different.

So, the answer is: They are not the same, but they can be modified to work if you can't find anything else.

Just curious, how do you go about modifying the fork? Do you have to shave off the locking mechanism or something?
