Firstly, I am in the process of getting it plated, and will soon have paperwork for it. This was a barn find, so no paperwork came with it, naturally. This process shouldn't be a problem. If there is interest in it, I will try to move this process along quicker.
The build was fun and that's what I love doing, but I'm looking at getting another motorcycle while the prices are cheap this winter, and I am also house shopping come the beginning of next year, so this toy must go.
Here's the build thread:
1964 vespa 150 VBB rebuild
The frame is super straight save for some dents here and there, mostly on the leg shield. Also has a puncture type thing on the left side of the bike just above the cowl behind the buddy seat. Size of a quarter and someone hammered it back into shape. It backs into the wheel well. Would need to be welded and massaged for paint. None of this bothered me since I LOVE the way it looks. It is a fantastic candidate for paint. It has NO rot, just surface rust. The petina'ed finish isn't for everyone, but I got the bike where I wanted it and that is how it sits. It has tons and tons of new stuff.
-Bike only has ~750 miles on it. I ride it around every once in a while so this number will rise.
-VNB cases with a Scooter Mercato 166cc (61.0mm) kit on it. It is a 4spd bike like it was originally. All new seals, doesn't leak a drop. I used all the insides from the 600 mile motor the bike came with, so the gears and whatnot have the same mileage as the bike itself. Top end has ~150 miles on it so far. It runs fantastic. It starts second kick when cold, every time. First when warm. Clutch works great and all gears engage nicely.
-Spaco Dellorto 20/20 carb properly jetted for the kit and pipe. New Piaggio air filter with heart drilled.
-"Scooter Republic" big shiny expansion pipe.
-All new rubber save the floor rails and grips.
-New cables.
-Por15 resealed tank, new fuel valve and fuel line.
-8" wheels were retained. New Shinko white walls with new tubes.
-New seats, brown in color.
-I have the P rear shock spacer that I have yet to put on. Only scraped the pipe once so far without it.
-The bike didn't come with locks. The steering lock is not there but I found a spare toolbox lock lying around and it worked for the side compartment.
Everything works on this bike. The horn, the lights.....everything. If something was broken, I fixed it. I take that back, the speedo light doesn't work! It didn't come assembled so I don't know how it goes together (I looked into it). The wire for it was taped up behind the headlight. All it needs is a bulb and its clip/retainer, I think. But other than that, it runs and drives great. I put a TON of work into it and it's a blast to ride, but it doesn't make sense to have at this point in my life. Maybe someday ill pick another one up, but for now I must pass this nice little bike along to the next person.
It will come with a couple boxes of extra/random parts. I have a whole bunch of SI jets, the VBB cases original to the bike with a bad rotary pad (fixable), seat frame, buddy seat bracket, stock muffler, stock 150cc cylinder, 20/17 carb that needs a gasket kit (its apart) and its corresponding air filter, 12v bulbs, original ignition coil, some extra gaskets, extra plugs, and various other things that are mostly engine related. I also have a box of VLB sprint 10" wheel specific engine internals (gears, brake drum/hardware, shafts, etc) that I will throw in. This is what is needed for a 10" rear wheel conversion to retain the correct gearing for the wheel size. This stuff is worth a couple hundred bucks alone, I just don't have the time to sell everything separately.
I am asking $2k cash, which I feel is a good deal for a bike like this and with the parts included with the sale. It is located in Southeastern CT, 06320. Feel free to email me with offers.
