It happen again this morning! I lost one front signal light a few days ago while my 500 was parked and although I was puzzled at the complete removal, I chalk it up to accidental parking bump, but I came out this morning and the thief had taken the other front signal light! Both were neatly removed and pulled off of the wire leads.

The scooter was parked on the street (I live in NYC) but was covered so whomever that had taken the lights must know exactly what it is and I can't think of anyone who would need a signal light other than a fellow Mp3 500 owner. I am terribly annoyed and angry at the thought that another Mp3 owner would steal parts from from a fellow rider.

Sounds like an item that's either way expensive, or hard to get. Same thing happened to me back in the mid 60s when I was in college. I was driving a Ford Futura. It had a removable gas cap that was actually part of the body, painted and all. And they just kept being stollen. New ones cost a fortune and were hard to get due to the color. After I lost and paid for the third one, I just started stealing them back. I know now that was wrong, but at the time ....

Wow that sucks... I drive in the city with my MP3 all the time and I have a friend that lives there with one as well.

Why the hell would they steal proprietary lights? Makes no sense.

*on a side note, my friend got his MP3 towed for not having his license plate on it. He always made fun of me for walking the extra block when I parked legit.

Keep an eye on Craigslist and ebay - they might turn up.

I have had my MP3 500 for the past few years and always had parked it on the street without any issues. I am really annoyed at the fact the the thief had the nerve to come back two days later to take the other signal light.

Any how, any one know of a cheaper source for replacement parts other than going to the dealership?

Yes, for inexpensive parts and service, go to Jimmy of Zoom Scooters in Maspeth, NYC. He replaced my mp3 500 signal light, which fell off most probably due to a loose factory design or assembly.

When I cover the scoot, the covering exerts pressure on the light and may have loosened the assembly.

After riding, I put on the cover at night. I didn't notice the loss until I removed the cover next day.

Frostbite, did u have a different experience?

Thx for info.

Guess I would be happy that the scooter was still "there"! No doubt, someone in need of same parts, or thinks they are the same fit.
