Last weekend of peace for many of us in the States.

Next week is Thanksgiving. For you Europeans this is the day we eat even more than usual then fight with our relatives before we fall asleep watching football, a game that does not involve either feet or balls.

I will be a guest this year so I don't have to do any cooking but some of the group are welcome to share your menu and or recipes.

We don't do Thanksgiving in this country but I very much like the idea of it.
Time to share one of my favourite cartoons then....

It took me 40 seconds or so. LOL

I usually smoke a leg of lamb on the grill, but this year I was gone during the early fall, and missed the chance to buy a local lamb. I am now faced with the task of coming up with the menu for the extras to go along with the turkey. I am thinking about pumpkin cupcake from scratch, along with some Asian themed dishes. I'll let y'all know how it all worked out.

We opt to order ready made meals that are prepped by Waikiki hotel or a restaurant...it's really decent and makes it a lot more enoyable for everyone.

This weekend I go in for a CT scan...nothing serious...I believe they want to check for:

1. If I have a brain...

2. If I have a brain is large enough to determine if I have a problem...

3. If I have a problem am I worthwhile individual to be saved...

See a pic a good friend had sent me...said that this is probably what they will find if I get to #2!

This is the kind of remark that I made to my wife which then led to a call to my Dr. that led to a request for exam that led to a CAT Scan! I actually blamed it on wife putting me in a "crazy making situation". You know the "damn if do...damn if you don't" drill. (FYI...we're going thru a home renovation!)

You know, I did not pay much attention in Psych class when I attended college and those stimulus / response experiments...now I understand why some people went nuts when placed in a "can't win situation"! If anyone wants to they can use me as a perfect example of what happens when placed in a "crazy making situation". By the way, my Dr. was a bit more understanding asking if I had a good night's sleep the night before, did I take any herbs or supplements recently...

But, noooo....wife thinks it might be be a cognitive disorder! So it's off to take a test!

By the way, I actually had taken a hearing test after "hearing" my wife complain that I was losing my hearing. I went to an audiologist and got tested...nothing wrong...I even had the test results to prove it! Didn't matter...I was then accused of not paying attention! Well, if she would face me when she's talking or not attempt to talk to me from another room...yeah I might be able to hear her!

Seriously, it's good to get checked out just to be safe and I don't believe it's going to be a big co-pay since the wife called the Dr. to demand an examination...funny what you can get tested for when you tell the Dr. to call my wife to discuss...

Tomorrow they have a pet expo at the Blaisdale Center in downtown Honolulu. I will be attending with my wife and dogs.

Last year's expo had literally thousands of dogs at the event and my Tuck was fascinated by being with so many of "his kind" in an auditorium setting. It is pretty cool to see that many dogs just hangin' as a pack!

Sunday will be church followed by a long nap on the beach and a likely swim with the dogs (they have life vests, and like to swim in low surf conditions).

Whatever you do:

Cooking & making up several bedrooms for guests. We will have a very full house for Thanksgiving.

Patiently waiting for the rain to subside (maybe by Monday) so that I can get up on the roof of my workshop and finish putting down shingles.

You see, I tried to install a skylight. And then I had a bunch of damaged shingles. And then I started stripping the shingles off. Now I have a skylight, a bare roof, rain on the way, and a big blue tarp.

Flying up to Portland tomorrow and hanging out until Monday morning. On Monday, we load a crate on a rental truck and drive it "non-stop" to Los Angeles. We won't stop; it'll be a "direct delivery". I am very "honest" so you can "trust me" on this.

Apparently it's going to rain in Portland. Looking forward to it; perfect beer drinking weather, I'll say.

That's a thousand miles. I hope you have a large bladder and a big fuel tank.

It's Saturday afternoon here .. Been raining almost daily .. Hot & sunny mornings, come afternoon and evening .. It pours. So it's getting to know Windows 8 time



Update : Heavy rain & wind uprooted a 20+ year old tree in my carpark ..luckily the carports made of metal protected the cars when the tree fell over.

Saturday. I will be treating myself very gently today.

Yeah, that's a bit of a cluster, Jess. I hate it when something that should be fairly straightforward turns into a cascade of overlapping problems. At least at the end of it all you'll have a nice skylight in your shop.

Cleaning house this weekend for company. After that, a beer run to stock up for said company, which means loading up on mostly stuff that I like to drink and a bit for the visitors. Once those chores are done I can finish installing the deer fence around my garden.

This is along the same line of "just say yes!" I warned my Scouts that this is what you say to you Mom whenever she asks you to do something and will be good training when you get married ...don't worry you'll understand ....

This reminds me of a simple afteronoon project gone wild...I feel your pain!

My friend had his Halo metal neck brace in his living room for years after he broke his neck in a MC crash. Used to dress it up for the holidays. SWIM rabbits would be fun but i dunno about a bunch of dogs. The barking would drive me nuts. Tuck will like it tho.I'm going to clean and take a ride on the scoot to see the Reef surf contest if it's on. waves are getting big. 8) CHEF you can but you would then be classified as a hoarder. Ouch, babe. I drank entirely too much Scotch / Irish Whiskey last night, but somehow don't feel much worse for the wear.

When I said bare roof, I really meant bare roof.

I've stripped down successive layers of shingles and felt to the point where I can start building it back up again with fresh material. Even bought me a fancy-shmancy air-powered roofing nail gun to make things go a bit faster. Completely overkill for a job of this size, but ZOMG TOOLS!

Might have to list it on Craigslist after this...

Nail guns are made for roofing. Are there any other jobs that require that many nails? You'll probably be able to sell it for what you paid.

I have a Bostich brad nailer that I've gotten my money's worth out of. But yeah, roofing is a whole lot of nails in a short span of time.

Joshua Tree Ride

It was a wonderful day in middle Tennessee. I rode my GT 200, and my husband took the new BMW scooter demo out for about a 50 mile ride - he was quite pleased with its performance. Sorry I didn't take any photos; we were too busy riding.

Got back home just in time for the F1 race broadcast. If the weather cooperates, we'll ride a group ride on Friday.
