I can get the Piaggio topbox kit which is 48ltrs and includes rack and backrest for around the same money as a Givi E450N Rack and backrest.
Does anyone have any reasons why I should choose one over the other?
Thanks
Steve

If you have kept your bike ALL Piaggio I'd stay with it, just makes the bike look more complete if that makes sense? I had the option at the time to go with Givi or Piaggio tall windshield, I chose Piaggio

I went with the Givi SR134 because I think it makes it easier to use the trunk. But I see NOS Piaggio kits in my color going for a lot less now...
Decisions, decisions! Cheers! John |

Why only those two choices? You're leaving out others, such as the Coocase whose 48 liter is cheaper than either the Piaggio or the Givi and comes with LED brake and running lights and wireless remote control lock and unlock, alarm, and panic button. Hard to find in the U.S., considerably easier to find in the U.K., I suspect.

Or you can go with no frills or thrills and not break the bank. Easy to mount the base unit on the 500 with rubber pipe clamps.

Contacted a UK dealer about Coocase and they said they had contacted Coocase and they did not have a rack for my machine. Will one attach to the Givi SR134?
Thanks for the replies. Anyone got a pic of the Givi 52/55 on a MP3? Steve |

Although I love GIVI' s products and i have already puted on my scoot many of them, i think that Piaggio' s top case is better than Givi' s. It is my oppinion so i have chosen this for my MP3. I paied for it 420 euro (here in Greece). Givi's costs half price...

Biggest difference is not lighting options for the Piaggio trunk and the factory trunk is aPITA to tilt forward. I had the stock, sold it and went Givi, added the Admore LEDs, liner, color matched (close) lid. Only bitch is it won't stay open. Givi E55 trunk

Just got my case and mount (Piaggio) on yesterday. Would have been a piece of cake if I hadn't been adding wiring to the setup for lights. Was very happy with it today. To be fair, I paid $300 flat out for my kit from the prior owner of my bike, and he tossed in the stock windshield and dash too, so I got one hell of a deal.

Givi, because I can easily transfer it to a new scoot/bike and Piaggio was out of stock so they really didn't matter. If I were to to it all again I'd think that I'd give the JC Whitney route a chance (maybe). A few members here have gone that route and I can't say I've heard of any problems. All said and done the Givi has been great and no problems with that box. Over the 2 years that I've had it, other than to put a couple of pieces of foam tape to stop a slight rattle between the top case and the bracket.
For me it ended up being about the size. Givi's 55lt case can eat almost anything that you have. For me it's about putting my full face helmet in as well as my bulky 3 season riding jacket. This the Givi 55 lt does with ease and looks great and not out of place on the back of the scooter. Add a top rack on top of the Givi for even more storage (a waterproof bag with all my rain gear goes up there when traveling/touring). One other thing that I love about the Givi is it is waterproof (or at least I've never noticed and water in it) and have never had any problems storing my electronics there and keeping them dry. For those of us who like to save a few bucks, you can see what on sale at my fav flea market: http://advrider.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=14 bought a few things there over the years (usually motorcycle gps's and gloves and have had nothing but great experiences. Cases come up all the time. Also check the for sale section of Modern vespa, there's always a few for sale there as well. Cheers, Tross |

The limiting factor will be the mounting bracket. The Piaggio comes with the trunk, the Givi which comes in Monokey and Monolock, both tilting Sr134 or fixed SR108 and the Shad which is fixed. Other trunks may fit on these brackets but how well. It's not like a generic trunk with a bracket that clamps onto a chrome rack.
