I test rode a Victory 1700cc Cross Roads bike over the weekend. They are doing a promotion in Australia for a weekend of riding including free accommodation and a tank of fuel... I took Mrs Wombat Dolphin on a trip to Newcastle - 2 hours on the freeway north of Sydney and then short trips around. On the Sunday I put Mrs WD on the train then did the Putty road ride back home. Great fun - around 7 hours of riding in total - in comparison to the GT200 remembering to change gears and use the clutch was interesting - also the braking distance and manoeuvering at low speeds were a bit tough - the good points were stability at speed and having a lot of grunt to get after it at speeds over 100kmph - anyway just thought I would share these thoughts as well as the attached photo...very happy to be back on the GT...

Still, though, a freebie weekend of riding! Nice one.

I've been watching the Victory promo with some interest. Do they put the thumbscrews on about purchasing afterwards?

Sounds like a fun weekend. How's the shipping of the scoot going? Any news? Don't forget we want pictures of the scoot coming out of the crate on arrival!

Good luck with the new life out there!

Prefer the GT200...I feel the same way after trying many motorcycles.
Once you've had a GT (or any Modern Vespa), you can never go back.

Awesome promotion. Never heard of anybody doing that here. Very cool. Glad you made the most of it. 8) GT'S are bulletproof.

The bizarre thing was I returned the bike and they just said hope you enjoyed the weekend - I was a bit surprised and asked what the followup was - the reply ? I you want us to we can give you a call - non existent thumbscrews... A great weekend all round

That's a pretty hefty engine in that bike, over 100 cu. in.
Where is it made?

I believe Victory motorcycles are from the USA somewhere

Thanks Waspman - The scoot is due to arrive in early January - fair bit of paperwork to complete as you know - quarantine, registration of the bike etc etc but worth it to have BOLT riding the Sydney roads - BTW I found out that you can simply change the speedo from miles to KM by pressing the buttons on the speedo - this was one of the reasons the importer gave for not recommending buying in Australia for $4000 more than buying and shipping from the UK... what a load of BS !! Hows the autumn riding in Lincolnshire ? What tires are you using ? City Grips ?
