I'm a little annoyed with my little ET4. My last coil and lead seperated on a ride, so I replaced it.

It seems I now have the same issue, when I push the lead into the coil everything is peachy but as soon as I accelerate the bike turns into a pain in the arse until I push the coil again.

Are these supposed to be 1 part? I thought they were push fit, the little Vespa has been nothing but problems!

I'm pretty sure the coil and lead are not intended to be separable. The spark plug cap actually screws onto the lead, but I'm not sure that is the case with the coil end.

the lead is glued into the coil, the plug cap screws into the lead.

I have managed to pick out the old glue and lead and twist in a new one but I don't quite trust it yet.

How is it glued in, could you superglue the lead back into the coil then? I'm confused why I keep breaking them, surely there's a tolerance build in for movement..

Looked like it was glued with epoxy. Some times someone will trim a bit off the end to get the cap to thread on well and that leaves it too short.

The one I did I replaced the existing lead with a length of 7mm copper core plug wire and left it quite a bit too long. I've been meaning to go back and glue it but for now it's just twisted onto the spike in the coil.

re coil
the ht lead is screwd into the coil body as is to the plug cap this is so you can replace the ht lead if it has become defective at some point , rather than replaceing the more expensive coil .
