Check the tutorial here:

http://www.scooterhelp.com/genmaintain/vespa.clutch.cable.html

As noted keep an eye out for the washers at the clutch lever -- they can be easy to miss depending on how much grease is in there.

Not mentioned in the tutorial is a little metal disk that fits inside the nipple between the cable and the screw. Keep an eye out for that too; it helps to keep the screw from fraying your new cable.

ScooterHelp, VespaMaintenance ...
And the third destination for everybody in your shoes who is trying to learn what to do & even more importantly, what NOT to do, should be Scooter Mercato's Tech-Tips. Check the carb rebuild section at least if you found an old one somewhere. They are also a good source of parts if your local shop doesn't have or is too far away.

But for a clutch cable set, please try local if you can. You'll be glad you did and can get any other help or advice you want.

Nice looking scooter, looks shiny & you look pretty happy about it.

make sure you grease the lead wire end that goes into the lever.

Hi,
I can't add to what these guys have already mentioned, except, it's good to know there's another 66 Sprint owner in the hood. I have a link in the "Projects" section to my current flame. ...only it's a '66 BB 150.
Happy trails....
