An Italian Christmas cake and a neckwarmer/headwarmer/scarf-type thing. Truly cool. Our exchange student had one of those scarf-things and I thought it was pretty slick, now, in the cold MN winter, I'll be just a bit more comfortable (and a few calories heavier!)

Also cat approved!

Thanks Max6200! (OK, it was a 'Max' from Wichita, I'm assuming it was Max6200!)
Yes that's me.I am so glad you like it. I was at a loss to get something local so I had to brake the rules a bit. Panettone is a staple around the Holidays in Brazil. But like you said it is basicaly a glorified fruit cake. (Imagine that coming from me! ) Not to sound too proud but the scarf is a vintage Swedish army French scarf. I am so glad the box got there intact. Happy Holidays my not-so-secret anymore MV pal.

I just received my gift today, and since we are both "local", Philip sent me his favorite Italian wine!

Thank you very much!

Now...Philip...what is your MV name?

Merry Christmas,

Len

Sent my gift package off today. I may have gone somewhat over the price guidelines, but I'm sure all will be forgiven.

One component of the gift should be an excellent accessory for the recipient's scooter based on an earlier MV thread.

The only bummer is the Post Office tells me that first class to the UK will take up to two weeks! Sure, that's still well before Christmas, but since I'm pretty sure the package will go by air rather than by truck, train, and boat, what's with two weeks?!

And it has arrived! Thank you so much for the flat rate shipping box and its contents! Now that I see that it is all wrapped up I might open the box and spread the contents under the tree...

I will post a picture once the contents see light!

Thank again!

Gift arrived from William P: indigenous Dayton, Ohio potato chips and a book by Oakland's infamous bad boy Sonny Barger. (Sonny was born in Modesto, CA but gained fame as the head of the Oakland Chapter of Hell's Angels. I grew up in the "Oak town" so the Angels were part of the local color, as it were.)

Thanks!

The only time I've heard that word used was in....Louisiana. I was at the Crescent City Farmer's Market and I saw the vendor put some extra goodies in my canvas bag. I said something about those items not being mine and I was told it was a lagniappe -like an extra goodie, a bonus, a gift with purchase. I love that word

That's ironic.

Everything but one item in the package I'm sending out was either made in my apartment, or about 3/4 a mile away from it.
I have told everyone I was braking the rules about local presents so I decided to redeem myself and take exra time on the packaging.

I love this thread too. The Vespa "Thank You" notes were tres cool.

I felt a little guilty. My beneficiary is a San Diegan. I just couldn't see sending him something that if he really wanted he could get himself. Hence the bottle of Il Burchino. Now, the thing about Il Burchino is that the wine house in Tuscany where it comes from has two main estates. One of which is in Pontedara where, well you know what else comes from Pontedara. ..And I had the wine shipped from a San Diego shop. Consequently there is a total symbiotic relationship.

I have been procrastinating about sending my gift. It will go out in the mail today I promise. 8)

Last week I received a highly suspicious box with a return address that did not show up either on Mapquest or my GPS.

It took me three days to muster the courage to open it without notifying the authorities. Should I wear a mask just in case? Or put back my armored gear in case it blows up? I took it outside and had two of my neighbors back me up. I am a bit neurotic when it comes to unidentified packages.

It turned out to be a drain hose for my washer and dryer that I had ordered on the Internet.
LMAO...i had something similar happen a few weeks ago. I had a package waiting for me when I got home and was very excited about it. I tore it open looking for my latest eBay purchase - only to discover art supplies for my wife's 3rd grade class. Wha? emoticon
That reminds me of something that happened about 18 years ago.I am a metalsmith/jeweler and I ordered some descaler for one of my tumbling units. It was not that nasty of a chemical.... if you got it on your hands, you wanted to wash it off but it was not going to burn you are anything. It was one of the more gentle chemicals that I used. I get home from work and there was a rather cryptic and stressed voicemail from a neighbor asking me to come and get my "package". I walk over, she had the cars moved outside and this box was sitting alone in the middle of the garage floor.... with bright black and yellow striped caution and hazmat tape ALL OVER IT LOL!!!! Boy did she look worried. I told her what it was and later I actually showed her. Up until then I think she thought I was building bombs in the basement or something. Oh my. When I saw the excessive and completely over the top tape job they did on it. I could understand her concern. She could not understand why I was laughing so hard though, not at first anyway LOL
This is why I get on here. I just love your story. This HAS actually happened to you? Wha? emoticon You have such good neighbors.
