Hi All,

Long-time lurker --- am just getting under way with my new (old) 68 Vespa. It looks like the original square tail lamp assembly was replaced with the pointed top set(yellow tear drop top/rectangular red bottom). I can't figure out how to open this thing from the outside to change bulbs. There don't appear to be any visible screws. Only the two that protrude from the inside of the fender.
tia,
N

You answered your own question. You have to reach around and unscrew it from behind. It's supposed to have wing nuts on it but they may have been replaced with hex nuts. There is also a bent metal piece that goes from the mounting stud to the body that grounds the tail assembly.

Thanks. What a pain to get in there.

I think I like the idea of the wing nuts better; but with my luck they'd fall off.

My attempt at subtle humour failed -- my previous post should have said "with my luck, my 'nuts' will fall off".

Regardless, thanks for the suggestion .

Not to worry. According to some of my friends, that happens to any guy on a scooter.
