I'm sure that most of you have the common black plastic on your bike like I do, and mine is getting scuffed up from my boots when climbing on and off. Any tips on how to buff those out?

Any tips on how to buff those out? When I purchased mine new, it was very scuffed up. I apply heavy coat of Original Bikers Cleaner / Wax, and I find it helps protect it, but its hard to resolve the damage that was already done when I got it. I recently did a test drive on the new BMW 650GT which also suffers from the same problem, and they ship the bike with a heavy tape in that area. So that may be an idea to put some on for protection cut to size possibly. I have not done that research yet, but for me... I am careful when I swing my foot over to try not to hit the ABS... I find that if I stay on top of it and clean often the problem is not as bad. If I inadvertently put wax on top of it it becomes gradually more difficult to remove. I use just car shampoo.

Clay bar it. Meguires (sp) makes a kit. Do it lightly and they should come of most places. I got some off my Ruby helmet. I was gutted when i clocked the helmet on a yellow caution bar. Came right off. Good luck. I also keep a good coat of wax on my helmets and the scoot, which helps.Good luck EDITED i didn't catch the black bit. There pumping out the house's sewer across the street and my mind is elsewhere. I use a back to black when i've had black . Clay bar works on the other bits.

See if this stuff will help you:
I use it on the black plastic bits on my wife's Honda Element as well as on my old Mini, and it works wonders. Just keep it off your seat unless you like the "holding on for dear life in turns" experience! |

The aerosol version of 'Back to Black' works well here. Not that I've personally been bothered to use it for some years.

So FentonFred...did you ever come up with an acceptable solution to your scuff mark problem? I am having the same issue and it is driving me crazy! Just wondered if you tried any of the other posters ideas?

I was thinking of doing that this summer but having never done it before was wondering if it's worth it? Is it easy? Ta Kitty x |
