Anybody know of a good place to look for an owners manual. Seems like these older bikes always come up missing the owners manuals. I do see where shop/repair manuals are on the internet but the owners manual is somewhat hard to find. Any ideas?

Thanks for the link
I appreciate the link and did see where there was an owners manual for the GT125. I was in hopes for an owners manual. Just got home after buying a 2007 GT200L on consignment from a shop and the owner misplaced the manual...there was one on ebay but when I went to my emails I missed it by four cents..and about 15 minutes....grrrrr
You wouldn't know how I can open the glove box would you? The shop gave me a quick run through but I forgot the glove box sequence...grrr. The manual I found online only shows the box open when having and issue with the seat and gas tank filler cap. Again thanks for the link though. |

I have a box with 50-75 extra manuals in it. Call me or Jillian at the shop and if we have one for a GT200 we will mail it to you free of charge.
Welcome aboard! Best, SDG |

Hey that would be great. That sounds like a good idea to have it printed out and bound and covered. I couldn't thank you enough.

Hey guys,
I want to follow up on the manual here. I moved to Europe with my vespa and the vehicle inspection people here want to have the specific infos for the engine for the GT200 L (the USA model). I know an online manual for the GT is here http://www.scootermanuals.us/manuals/ but that is for the European release using the wrong engine number (M312M) and wrong chassis number. I need a manual for the GT200 L the same engine that is found in this manual: http://www.af1racing.com/store/prodimages/st2/granturismo-200-0809.pdf on page 24. But that manual doesn't show the engine specs. Else I can't get the bike registered. I don't have the original manual as I bought the bike used and didn't have the manual anymore. Can anyone provide a Scan or something from their manual for me that clearly show the pages from the manual that correspond to the data that is in this manual http://www.scootermanuals.us/manuals/Vespa/GT200/GT200Workshop.pdf for the entire section 2.2 Vehicle Identification especially showing the Frame No as ZAPM319 and the Engine No M316M. If someone can help me out with this I would HUGELY appreciate it. I can't find a matching manual anywhere and else I can't get plates for my bike anymore |

2007 GT200L Manual Labor
If you have any luck finding one (I've been looking since Nov) lemme know. I did get the shop manual but owners manual is a different story, the 125 owners manual touted to be the same is not, the spark gap is totally different amongst other things and when you don't know a blame thing about the thing ya gotta email folks just to open the glove box and that sort of thing, soon as it warms up a bit goin' to do a valve lash adjustment and a overall look see as this is my first Vespa.
Don't know why folks can't just leave the things in the glove box. |

One more thing
I just went thru the 287 pages of the shop manual again and could not find any numbers for valve clearances or float settings and what not. Did see where the spark plug had a gap figure (.7-.8mm) and things like end play for the crank. You would think that these numbers you need for routine maintenance would be obvious.
I live in an area that the nearest Vespa people are over a 150 miles away so all I have is the internet so manuals really come into play for me. Ok I'm through. |

Thanks Tazmo for trying to help.
For maintenance it doesn't really matter, BUT some parts are slightly different in the US version of the gt200 engine and the european verison of the engine. Also some slight differences in chassis parts and power and emissions and volume of the engine and exhaust system. In europe things are much stricter in regards to regulations and when serial numbers don't match you might face the problems and won't be able to get your bike approved for the road and get plates. So, I managed to get from Vespa the service manual and turns out there are errors because of year of the gt (pre 2006 has different power on the engine) 14.7W and the 2006 post (2008 US also) have a listed power of 15.4W on the engine at 8500 RPM as to the 9000 RPM on the older one. Getting consistent documentation from Piaggio is a pure nightmare. To make a long story shot I finally got my plates and was able to document to the traffic regulations office here in Switzerland on the differences of the M312 and M316 engines and that it is due to the fact that the 316 is for US/Asia and the 312 for Europe/UK. That's why you guys find if you look at the parts manual linked above different serial numbers. So, bike approved, new plates and rolling again without worries. If anyone has ties to Vespa/Piaggio. I suggets we try to get official papers that document these things online on this site. I think it will be an invaluable resource for everyone, and for all who plan on moving countries with their bikes. Cheers |

GT200L
The good news is you got the paper work straight and the bad news of course is finding clear cut information about our product. Vespa being the Rolls Royce of scooters you would think the ability to find info, data and specs on ANY model would be a non issue. Nowadays it seems all companies except a certain few are only concerned with the sale of a product. You would think that Vespa would have a data base on all their products for the very purpose of owners being able to zero in on a particular model with some sort of downloadable pertinent information archived for restoration or as a knowledge base. Italy being a neighbor of Switzerland that oughtta be a no brainer as far as getting the correct info.
This site offers a good deal of pointers, tips and tricks and bless 'em for that and it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to have a global data base for owners perusal for instances such as yours and mine where dealers are scarce and owners are scarcer. Seems like it would be a bit nippy ridin' around up thar in them thar hills. Cherrio Amigo |

After bugging Piaggio Group Americas, lo and behold I received and email from them requesting my address so they could send an owners manual. Two days later there it was.

Thank you, Customer Care CUSTOMERSERVICEPIAGGIOGROUP@CM.PIAGGIO.COM <CUSTOMERSERVICEPIAGGIOGROUP> Above is the link that was in the email. They are not an easy bunch to get in touch with and mind you I had requested a manual in November but better late than never I reckon'. Hey it was free so no grumping from me. |

Actually, I have talked with Thierry at Piaggio Customer Care in NY several times. He has consistently been polite and helpful.
