Hi there! New to this site so hi to everyone out there. I hope someone with more experience in MP3 than I can sort out my problem.
I recently purchased a 250 MP3 from previous owner. So was a private sale.
After getting home I found that it had been driven on dirt roads as there was a lot of gritty sand about so decided to give it a thorough clean .
In the process I removed the fuel injector and disconnected the cable from control unit.
I took the injector in for cleaning but it was found faulty so bought another, the problem is that when I turn the ignition on, the EFI warning light goes out momentarily but then comes back on and the bike it won't start
Can you tell me what's happening? Is it because I disconnected the EFI that it now needs tuning or could it be something else?
Any help would be most appreciated!

Remove the injector? Why? Try replacing the original.

Go to the wiki and download the service manual for the scoot. Do you have the red key? Might be possible to check some of the codes. Also try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes, kind of a reboot. Be sure to clean and oil the air filter. When you say won't start. does it turn over or nothing? If it won't turn over brake light switches or run/stop could be an issue.

Hi I just wanted to get it cleaned because the bike was running rough when I bought it. It turned out that the injector was faulty or at least that's what I was told.

Hi There and thanks for the advice Yes I have the master key and already downloaded a workshop manual but I didn't find it much help. I did find reference to the number of times the LED flickers but in my case the LED doesn't flicker its the EFI light that goes off and then comes back on which in my way of thinking is to do with the control box. Do you know if you disconnect it does it need to be re programmed?

Hi chatterbox,
Welcome to the forum from another Aussie. We are a rare breed in this part of the world!
I am from Orange NSW, have a 400 and done nearly 5000k without any problem so far.
I can't help with your present problem but there is a wealth of knowledge from members in this forum. Be nice to them and you will pick up "heaps".
Good luck, John

with the injector out and hooked to the fuel line you can test it to see if gas sprays out. just turn the key on and the fuel pump will pump and gas should spray out. if it doesn't then you have a fuel pump issue or a clogged fuel line.

do this in a well ventilated area and no smoking.
