I had a DEC PDP-11 for no other reason than I was at a garage sale at Stanford's CCRMA in 1993. I had just bought my Quadra 950 for about $6k IIRC and the thought of 7 or 8 tons of computer (racks, processors, platters, tape drives, crts, power supplies) overwhelmed my good sense. I did get it set up at home and developed some UNIX chops, but the power bill eventually drove some sense into my noggin...

I still occasionally use the Quadra. It's the front end for my Studer Dyaxis II system.
