It's mainly new 2012 model bikes that are having this problem on both 125's and 300's...My last 2012 GTS125 had it also, what happens is that you are riding and then all of a sudden you loose all power for like half a second if that then it carrys on as normal as if nothing happened, it's sort of like an old bogging affect on a carb'd engine. I no that past older models 1-2 years ago had issues with fuel pumps on the 250's and 300's in the past but i dont think this is the issue this time around, people are saying faulty regulators or coils but who no's???? But from what i keep seeing it is only happening on new 2012 bikes both 125's and 300's and a lot of people are getting these problems "A LOT" so something is going wrong and is not right. |

A solution..
Hope I'm not treading on any toes here, but on the GTS forum a member says that REEDSPEED scooters UK seem to have found the problem. The forum member says he thinks they said the regulator is at fault. Apparently dealers are being informed.
Are they?? Hope so Hope this helps. Bugsy., |

I know Reedspeed have been looking at the problem (they are local to me) and they are a decent dealer, so fingers crossed.

2012 300 GTS Engine Cut out issue RESOLVED.
Here is my experience for the record. After 620 km I experienced engine cut out on my 2012 300ie GTS.
Engine stall ONLY occurred from idle. I brought it to my mechanic after reading the forums and he determined two different issues: First, he tested kill switch. Switch would kill the engine, but the engine would start with the kill switch still turned off. He replaced the switch and then it operated fine. Engine still stalling though... Secondly, and these are his words. "Ignition leak found to be cause of fault. High tension wire (spark plug wire) appears to have been torn during assembly. Having the high tension wire connector at the high tension coil exposed has led to arcing of the spark to the frame. This is evident by the melting of the casing of the high tension coil and the above mentioned torn grommet." I've included a photo of the melted cap. The melted plastic encased the high tension wire and was quickly filed away, tested and worked fine. No more stalling. Warranty item. Happy to say the Ti-Fighter is back in action! No stalls, no worries. All is fine now! I hope this info helps someone else. an

I am having a similar problem. Mechanic changed air filter, spark plug but now my 300 super sport is sucking down gasoline like crazy!!
Mileage is really low. Any suggestions as to why it´s using double the gasoline it used to with only 20000miles? Thank.s |

It could well be the ECU spuriously triggering the injector. I can remember Cheekythomas finding one like this a few years ago - he had to hook up an oscilloscope to see the false triggers.

Simple Solution
Bill Dog wrote: My "less than 1000 miles on it" 250 died after the HT cap came lose from the lead so it probably left the factory like that and my "less than "500" miles 300 Super has had the cutting out for a second experience but my local tech extended the cable a little just to make sure it can move a little without breaking contact and it's not done it since. Oddly enough the boyfriend of the new owner of my 250 had two engine out repairs in an attempt to stop his 300 doing the same and they havn't cured it. Bill X
