I found it amazing to watch... No way to prove the title, but it sure beat a lot of trucks in Durham (and their knucklehead drivers)!

That's one tough bridge alright! I have a hard time sympathizing with the commercial truckers that ruined their trucks. They ought to know better. I feel for the guys pulling their RV trailers. Yeah, they ought to know the height of their trailers too, but actually I wonder how many do? At least on our Vespas we won't have that problem more than once.

So, instead of putting up signs that say absolutely no trucks allowed, they put up cameras for entertainment.

A friend of mine had this happen to his moving van in downtown Edmonton, AB. Sign was wrong. Local trucker told him driver everyone knows it is wrong because the sign has not been corrected for multiple repaving applications raising road height. He had lots of fun sorting insurance claims.

Technically the truck at 0:46 did defeat the bridge, since it made it on through and actually jacked up the bridge and left steel girders lying around.

I can name 2 bridges in my area alone that are as bad, if not worse, than these. One's only 10 foot clearance on a viaduct, so a pretty significant dip just to get down to it. The other one is known as the "Truck eating bridge". Look it up!
http://bridgehunter.com/ia/scott/truck-eating/ And that's the US 52 bridge up by the Palisades is pretty awful, too. Several truckers have told me that they've banged mirrors (or worse) trying to cross it. It's just not wide enough. And the surface is an open grate for about a mile. I crossed it once on my MP3 and found a different route to go back home... http://bridgehunter.com/il/carroll/8600001777/ Mark |

Some of these drivers are pretty amazing. Take the two hay trucks. The first one has half his load stripped off. The second one has to drive thru all the bales in the road in order to have half his load stripped off as well. (the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result )

At least one of the bridges in Davenport DOES have warning lines like that, and big flashing yellow warnings. It's the same reason people "just didn't see you there"...

That wouldn't help some of them. Hell the guy with the travel trailer didn't even seem to know he hit the bridge.
